When Season 2 of The CW’s new hit series The Originals returns this fall, fans will will be reunited with familiar faces of The Originals family as well as a whole bunch of new characters that are poised to shake things up in the French Quarter.
OMFGTV recently sat down with Originals bosses Julie Plec and Michael Narducci at the San Diego Comic-Con and talked about the fresh blood that will be joining Season 2.
Of the Mikaelson family, Julie Plec reveals who will be making it back to New Orleans. “We have rolled camera at least once on Nathaniel Buzolic (Kol),” Plec reveals. As for whether or not his character appears in a flashback, she can’t make any promises, “but you will see his lovely, beautiful face early in the season.”
One family member who she can confirm appears in a flashback only, is the Mikaelson matriarch, Esther. “We have rolled camera on Alice Evans. That I will say is in flashback. It was nice to have her back.”
For the fan-favorite Mikaelson sister, Rebekah, Plec says that they have filmed with Claire Holt at least once this season adding “I hope that she’ll come back as much as she can and we’ll just keep our fingers crossed about that.”
As for the new characters we will be introduced to, Executive Producer Michael Narducci breaks it down for us.
“There’s a character named Kaleb who’s going to be a big part of Season 2 and we’re going to see right away that he is going to have a connection with Davina and it might start to become more than platonic type of connection and he might try to guide her in a way and ask her to explore what it means to be a witch and why she has been manipulated. And as someone who has been manipulated himself, he’ll say ‘If you have enough power, you don’t ever have to be manipulated again. so join me and we can have our own say in what’s going to go on in the French Quarter,” and that’s going to be very difficult for Marcel who thinks of Davina as kind of like a daughter figure and he’s going to see her get involved with this dangerous character. We won’t know if Kaleb has the best interest for Davina or is he out for himself. It’s really going to allow us to explore Davina’s character.”
“There’s going to be a character named Vincent,” Narducci adds, “who is also a witch and who is going to have a very strong stance on what should happen in the French Quarter. The witches kind of got abused and enslaved to an extent in Season 1 and Vincent is going to make sure that that never happens again. So he will be a thorn in our hero’s side.”
“We’re also going to see a character named Aiden who’s going to be one of the werewolves, a guy who has a ring, who’s powerful, but he’s not just a gangster, not just a monster. He is anti-vampire, but he absolutely has the best interest of his pack in mind.”
The Originals Season 2 airs this fall on The CW.
