“The Originals” Recap: Revenge of the Fallen

“The Originals” nears its final three episodes in “There In the Disappearing Light.” Klaus tries to help Hope control the dark magic inside her, while Emmet captures Marcel with the aim of using his venom to kill Klaus. Vincent prepares to say goodbye to someone he loves, while Elijah contemplates his role in the war.

Let the Hate Flow Through You | Klaus tries to get Hope to lash out at him to calm the voices in her head, but Klaus isn’t the one she wants to hurt. Klaus captures Roman and leaves him for Hope to hurt/kill, but she can’t finish him off. While Antoinette tries to get Elijah to save Roman’s life, Elijah offers a interesting opportunity for Klaus.

Death Dilemma | Marcel goes off to Emmet’s hideout to kill him, but Emmet knocks him out and drains the Original-killing venom from his system to kill Klaus once and for all. Josh arrives and breaks Marcel out, but in the battle with the vampire guards, Josh gets stabbed- with Marcel’s venom. With no time to find a cure, Josh and Marcel share a tearful goodbye and Josh dies, but ends up in the afterlife with Aiden, driving off with the man he loved.

The Lie of the Afterlife | Ivy and the witches killed in the last episode wake up as vampires in transition, which doesn’t make much sense. Why turn witches into vampires? Why not just kill them? Ivy wants to die so she can go to the afterlife, which Vincent tells her is just suffering dead witches. To fix this, Vincent frees the trapped souls from the ancestral world so Ivy can die in peace.

Elijah and Antoinette gather Emmet and his vampires, but it was just a trap for Klaus and Hope to storm in and Hope lets her magic loose and slaughters them all. Unfortunately, the impact from the spell shakes the church and causes Declan- who was in the attic looking for information on his family- to fall and nearly die. Klaus heals him with his blood, but the priest who was helping Declan died. Meaning Hope is responsible for killing someone and she’s now a werewolf.

“The Originals” airs Wednesdays on The CW.
