After last week’s series-high, “The Originals” gets back to its typical violent drama in “We Have Not Long to Love.” Elijah confronts Declan about his relationship with Hayley, while Hope struggles to control the evil spirit inside her. Freya’s reunion with Keelin takes a surprising turn, while Emmet and his purist vampire army issue an ultimatum.
New Beginnings | Klaus, Freya and Hope are having a family breakfast, which quickly turns bad when Elijah arrives and tries to make things right. Hope storms off and bends a fork in half before doing so, causing alarm among Klaus and Freya. Freya suggests that Hope wear her magic suppressing bracelet, which doesn’t work, so Hope storms off and knocks out Klaus.

Make Them Stop | Elijah meets Declan at Rousseau’s and they share sorrows about Hayley’s death. Declan quickly figures out that Elijah is the guy who broke Hayley’s heart, just as Hope arrives and starts using her magic to beat the crap out of Elijah. She tells Klaus that doing so made the voices in her head stop and Klaus comforts her, while Elijah compels Declan to be at peace with Hayley’s death, in an interesting callback to season one when Klaus did the same to Cami.
This Is War | Emmet and his vampires issue a warning to the French Quarter to segregate the werewolves and the witches from the vampires, another callback to season one. A compelled guy delivers a bomb to the church and it kills the werewolf leader and wounds Keelin. After she heals up, Freya pulls out a massive engagement ring she’s been hanging onto for two years and Keelin says yes. Unfortunately, one couple doesn’t get that happy ending.
While Marcel and Josh round up the werewolves and vampires to take a stand against Emmet, Vincent shares a kiss with Ivy and stands by them to confront the purists. Vincent tries to do away with them with magic, but they all vanish. Vincent realizes that Ivy and her witches were astral projecting Emmet and his army and he races to the graveyard just in time to see Ivy and the witches die from poisoned wine given to them by an unseen man.
