“The Originals” Final Season Gets New Premiere Date, Plus Read the Episode Description!

The final season of The CW’s The Originals is mere weeks away, but that’s not stopping one last surprise from the network regarding the series’ ever shifting time slot.

The CW on Friday released the primetime schedule for the week of April 16, and with it came the updated final season premiere date of Wednesday, April 18 at 9pm, as opposed to its original date of Friday, April 20, that was announced in January. Fans can now see the beginning of the end of the Mikaelson family’s journey two days earlier than expected!

This also means that The Vampire Diaries spinoff has had the unique distinction of having aired on every night of the week, due to the constantly shifting time slots from season to season.

The Originals ended its fourth season with the Mikaelsons split apart and Hayley raising Hope in Mystic Falls, while Elijah was stripped of his devotion to his family.

The season premiere, “Where You Left Your Heart,” is officially described as follows:

THE BEGINNING OF THE END — Desperate to see her father Klaus (Joseph Morgan) after seven years, Hope (Danielle Rose Russell) resorts to drastic measures to bring her father back to New Orleans. Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) attempts to minimize the fallout from Hope’s actions, but not before news of what she’s done ripples through the city.

Meanwhile, Freya’s (Riley Voelkel) guilt over not being able to reunite her family gets in the way of her happiness with Keelin (guest star Christina Moses), while Rebekah (guest star Claire Holt) struggles with her inability to fully commit to Marcel (Charles Michael Davis). Finally, struggling without Elijah (Daniel Gillies) by his side, Klaus’ murderous rampage throughout Europe leads to an unexpected encounter with Caroline Forbes (guest star Candice King).

Yusuf Gatewood and Steven Krueger also star.
