“The Originals” Episode Review: No Way Out

“The Originals” delivers one hell of a prelude to its fourth season finale in “Voodoo Child.” The Hollow takes control of Hope, forcing Vincent to take a deadly stand. Hayley struggles with what to do to save her daughter’s future, while Klaus and his family must face a terrible reality.

With the Hollow taking control of Hope, all hands were on deck to save her- and all efforts failed. That’s right, Hope, in more ways than one, is gone forever as the Hollow burned the book that was the only thing that could stop her. Not only that, but the Hollow managed to make short work of almost every major character in record time. That’s something that even the toughest villain on this show has taken at least a whole season to do.

Vincent, however, finds a lone unburned section of the book that could save Hope, but in his words, “This will be the end of always and forever.” It’s tough to get more ominous than that. With the pieces set for the season finale, it’s going to come down to a choice of saving Hope, or taking down the Mikaelsons.

Other things: Hayley goes off to find Hope after the Hollow leaves and is still seriously pissed at Elijah. Plus, in lighter news, Freya and Keelin had a seriously hot sex scene.

“Voodoo Child” was one of the series’s all time most intense episodes, impressive considering this isn’t even the season finale. One has to wonder what the show has up its sleeves for next week’s finale.

“The Originals” airs Fridays on The CW.
