“The Originals” Episode Review: Power Play
This week on “The Originals,” the Mikaelsons must return to New Orleans to cure Hope of an illness that links her life to the kidnapped children. Hayley confronts a former member of her pack, Freya and Keelin try to find Marcel’s venom and Vincent discovers the truth about the entity known as the Hollow.

“Keepers of the House” finally brought the mysterious blue light into focus by trying it to the Mikaelsons. Turns out it lured Klaus and Marcel to a ritual to bind itself to both of them. Now that the Hollow finally has a name and a driving force behind it, the picture of the season is starting to come together. Of course, its true intentions, connection to Hope and what it wants with Marcel and Klaus remains to be seen.
Elsewhere, Hayley’s struggle to be a better person continued in a cool scene of her telling Elijah that they need to stop killing in the name of their family. A cool thing about this season is that it’s reversing expectations of characters- Klaus and Hayley, who have done ruthless things in the name of their daughter, are softening up and Elijah and Freya, the more sensitive of the group, are becoming nastier.
Freya and Keelin are continuing to bond after their intense confrontation last week, and is it me, or is chemistry brewing between these two? After this season of “Supergirl” tackled similar territory and Keelin’s admission last week that she’s into girls, the whole gay love interest angle is starting to become a trend…
“Keepers of the House” was a wild episode with some connective tissue between our heroes and the mystical threat they must now face. Now that the Mikaelsons are back into the fire, it seems bloodshed is back in season.
“The Originals” airs Fridays on The CW.
