While the Mikaelsons finally got some peace and quiet- sort of- Vincent got tons of stuff to do this week, as we saw more of his relationship with Eva, including the fact that she was pregnant with his baby before she went nuts. Turns out Vincent got into dark sacrificial magic, which may or may not have been responsible for his baby’s mysterious death. Oh, and the magical book was written in his handwriting. Talk about creepy.
Back with the Mikaelsons, Klaus got some good family bonding time with Hope, which was fun as we got to see more of Hope and a softer side to Klaus. The same, however, could not be said for Freya, who went ruthless as she tried to suck the venom from Keelin. This put her at odds with Hayley, who was trying to be a better person for her daughter, and also showed that Freya may not be the ray of sunshine we all thought she was.
Also, Rebekah and Kol went off on an adventure of their own and Rebekah had a good farewell to Klaus. While it was obvious these two weren’t sticking around, this sendoff for the pair- what is this, their eighth goodbye?- was effective and happy.
Plus, now Kinney is evil and a child kidnapper to boot. Didn’t see that one coming.
“Haunter of Ruins” finally gave us a picture of what the season will look like and it’s looking promising. Giving the Mikaelsons a well earned break before throwing them into chaos once more was a cool reversal and sets up a clash between them and Marcel that should be explosive.
