“I thought I knew you. Like, really, deeply knew you.”
The pairing of Midnight, Texas‘ Bobo Winthrop (Dylan Bruce) and Fiji Cavanaugh (Parisa Fitz-Henley) is one we ship — and ship hard! We’ve been rooting for “Boji” to happen from the very beginning.
Naturally, because the witch has a kind heart, she was hesitant to pursue what she felt for the for the local pawnshop owner, because of the recent death of his fiancée Aubrey. “He’s grieving,” Fiji told Olivia (Arielle Kebbel). But that hesitation didn’t last too long. She borrowed a hot, black dress from the assassin’s closet and invited her crush over for a piece of her pie. *cough*
Unfortunately, because Sons of Lucifer got in the way, Fiji was stood up by Bobo, a fact that Mr. Snuggly was happy enough to point out to his owner. Then, during what felt like a confession of mutual love coming, the witch got friendzoned.
Through thick and thin, Fiji remained a loyal friend, going way beyond and saving Bobo’s life not once, but twice. “No matter what, you’re always there for me,” he said to her. She reiterates what he had told her earlier, saying that they’re friends and that’s what friends do for each other. That’s when Bobo asks if there’s anything more to their relationship. The moment ended with a kiss that rocked the fandom!
This moment, however, had us confused. One day, he’s telling her they’re just friends; the next day, he’s the one asking her, “Is that all this is?” Make up your mind, Bobo!
Then, not long after, a deep, dark secret of Bobo’s was revealed to her: His family is part of Sons of Lucifer. After the group’s local branch kidnapped Fiji and held her hostage, along with the revelation of Bobo’s ties to the organization, she rightfully felt the need to push the breaks on their budding relationship.

So what’s next for the Bobo and Fiji? OMFGTV hit up Midnight, Texas Showrunner and Executive Producer Monica Owusu-Breen for the answers.
First up, we wanted to know why Fiji went ahead with her plans for a dinner date with Bobo even though she understood that he was grieving. “Fiji never thought Aubrey was good enough for Bobo,” Monica tells us. Looks like Midnight’s other outsiders feel the same way. Olivia gladly referred to Aubrey as a bitch, and Connor, well, we know how he felt, and after the latest episode, what he did to Aubrey.
For now, the Wiccan shop owner will be distancing herself. “I need time,” Fiji tells him. The reason for her separation? There’s a lot we don’t yet know about her. “Truth is, like everyone else in Midnight, Fiji’s got secrets,” Monica teases. “Fiji’s not the “open book” that she seems. She protects her heart for reason’s we’ll learn later in the season.”

Throughout the season, we’ve seen Fiji come to the rescue for everyone in Midnight. Her Devil’s Net helped make Manfred’s (François Arnaud) new home inhospitable to the dead. She then saved the town from a bad nest of vampires with her Sunrise Crystal. And most recently, she brewed up a tincture, or potion, to use against an ancient supernatural succubus, to rid her of her perpetual glamour so she would no longer be able to seduce men.
It appears that Fiji has the fix for any danger that comes their way. But will there ever be a point where the answer to any of Midnight’s new problems not be found in her “Inquiring Mind” shop?
“Fiji’s extraordinarily skilled and her magic often can help them deal with many supernatural dangers,” Monica explains. “But her magic is one of light, of good. As the threats to the Midnighters become more and more powerful, Fiji’s magic will not be enough.”
Midnight, Texas airs Mondays at 10pm on NBC.
