Gatlin Green Talks “Heroes Reborn” Character Emily and Super Powers

Newcomer Gatlin Green makes her network television debut on NBC’s highly anticipated series Heroes Reborn in the role of Emily, a sweet girl next door who is trying to survive high school and figure out who she wants to be.

OMFGTV spoke with Green about her new character, as well as any super powers she would love to have on and off screen.

“[Emily] gets mixed around with Robbie [Kay]’s character Tommy and finds out that he has a big secret and that she’s kind of connected with him and wants to help him,” Gatlin says. “She’s just the type of person that if you’re sad she sad; if you’re happy she’s happy. She’s very genuine and empathizes with everybody; she’s very compassionate.”

“She’s also the type where if you’re sad or if you’re upset, she’s going to be there to encourage you and kind of build you up and make sure you’re ready to kick some butt if you need to kick some butt,” she continues. “I think she’s really great with that.”

Gatlin says that Emily’s response to discovering Tommy has powers is a “natural reaction” adding, “there’s like, ‘Oh, my gosh. You have a good ability!’, then there’s also ‘This is cool!’ and also like ‘This is scary!’ It’s just a huge mix of emotions but I think she’s there to support him and help him figure out how he feels about it.”

At the time of our interview, she reveals that Emily does not have a super power, “but you know Heroes, they could do whatever they want and I would be excited.”

As a person, Gatlin would love the power to shape-shift. If she wants to fly, she can turn into something that can fly; if she wants to swim, she can turn into something that swims. As an actress on a show, however, she wisely chooses not to be a shapeshifter because when you “shift,” they bring in these other actors to take your place.

And if she could be one character from the previous seasons of Heroes, she exclaims, “Hiroooooooo! I would love to be him. He’s so cool!”

Heroes Reborn airs tonight at 8pm on NBC.
