In addition to Grimm‘s “A Reptile Dysfunction” installment which featured a Loch Ness Monster-type Wesen story, Executive Producer Norberto Barba also expressed to us his enthusiasm for tonight’s luchador wrestling-themed episode.
AN ANCIENT WESEN WARRIOR TRADITION FINDS ITS WAY INTO THE MODERN WORLD OF LUCHADOR WRESTLING – JOSEPH JULIAN SORIA GUEST STARS – A local maskmaker is targeting Wesen to create Luchador masks that bestows great power to its wearer. As Nick (David Giuntoli), Hank (Russell Hornsby), Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell) and Rosalee (Bree Turner) work to stop the killings, Capt. OMFGTV screened tonight’s disturbing episode in advance, and below we’ve included a few teasers, some of which had our jaw dropping.
• The Scooby Gang discover that the stick that had been locked and hidden for centuries has supernatural healing powers and decide it best to keep it a secret.
• A scene right before the opening title credits had us cringing. We think it’s the most disturbing thing we’ve ever seen on Grimm.
• With Adalind’s suppressant slowly dying out, she tests the waters and questions Nick about what his feelings would be if her Hexenbiest powers were to resurface.
• In addition to Captain Sean Renard, someone else finds out that Rachel Wood had a hand in planning Andrew Dixon’s assassination.
• Eve uses her super powers to unlock a car door. We couldn’t help but laugh at that because she could’ve just as easily asked the driver to open it for her.
• Another of Grimm‘s long-gestating mysteries is brought to light in the final seconds of the episode.

Silence of the Slams is one of the series’ most fun episodes largely due to the gripping Wesen side story. The only downside to the episode is that with the Spanish language playing an important part in the story, we didn’t get to see Bitsie Tulloch’s awesome Spanish at work. To make us accept that missed opportunity, we’re going to convince ourselves that it was Juliette that knew Spanish and not Eve.
Grimm airs Fridays at 9pm on NBC.
