National Treasure: Edge of History picks up the pace in episode two, “The Treasure Map,” which kicks the hunt into high gear! This time, Jess and Tasha must confront Billie to negotiate Oren’s safety and a curious FBI agent gets on the trail.
The Exchange | Picking up immediately after last episode’s cliffhanger, Oren (Antonio Cipriano) realizes that maybe, just maybe, he’s being kidnapped and tries to run, but gets duct taped up by Billie (Catherine Zeta-Jones). Over the phone, Jess (Lisette Olivera) agrees to exchange the cube for Oren’s life, but only if they meet at a museum gift shop. Jess immediately tells Tasha (Zuri Reed) that they’ll going to the FBI, which Tasha objects to, seeing as they could get into lots of trouble. Regardless, they tell an agent named Ross (Lyndon Smith) a redacted version of their story, but she doesn’t buy it and Jess chickens out and refuses to file a report.
While on their way to the museum, Tasha and Jess accidentally unlock a section of the cube and realize that it’s a puzzle box. After turning the box’s wheel of symbols around, Jess opens it and it appears to come apart into a scrambled map. With no time to unscramble the map, Jess and Tasha head to the gift shop to meet Billie, but stashes a keychain from the shop in the cube. She hands it over to Billie in an attempt to get her arrested, but Billie covertly passes it to her henchman on her way out. To add insult to injury, Oren refuses to turn Billie in to the cops under threat of death from her henchmen.
House of Clues | Liam (Jake Austin Walker) shows up to Sadusky’s will reading and is informed that all he left him was his house. Which is perfectly timed with Jess showing up to said house looking for more hidden clues. She gets busted by Liam, but when she tells him about the treasure, he insists that she’s going on a wild goose chase. She leaves, but swipes a book that has a picture of her necklace in it.
At FBI HQ, Agent Ross looks up Sadusky’s files, which are almost entirely redacted and comes to believe that his death was suspicious. Meanwhile Jess gets fired from the storage unit for failing to show up for work and heads to the bar where Liam was playing and gets hired immediately, which Liam isn’t too happy about, even less so when he gets fired as well. This inspires Liam to go to Jess and apologize to her- and then he takes her to Sadusky’s house and opens a hidden room from the bookshelf, revealing all of Sadusky’s research on the treasure. He also shows her a research paper on the treasure that Jess sees was written by her own mother.
