With every new season of MTV’s hit series Teen Wolf comes new and even more frightening foes to keep Scott and his gang of friends busy.
In the supernatural drama’s fifth season, fans of the series were introduced to the Dread Doctors, the new baddies who some are calling the most terrifying villains the show has seen to date.
Along with the amount of drama and excitement going into the first half of the season, Executive Producer Jeff Davis is also thrilled with how their new baddies turned out.
“We are really happy with our new villains because when you start designing these things and start coming up with ideas, there is great possibility that it’s going to look terrible and we’re pretty happy with the way they look,” Davis tells OMFGTV.
He goes on to explain that the villains were inspired by the steam punk aesthetic. “All those masks that people make on their own were inspired by the German World War II gas masks and the idea of human experiments being done during the wars. The [ideas] even come a little from the plague doctors during the bubonic plague.”
“I just love the idea of science meeting the supernatural,” he continues. “We never wanted the show to be test tubes and things like that. We always wanted to do our version of it and the Dread Doctors kind of give us that way in.”
Now that viewers have met the Doctors, lots of questions about who they are and what they do and why have been raised. Davis promises that answers will be coming real soon.
“You’ll learn a lot more about them actually in episode five,” he reveals. “The man with the knowledge is Dr. Valack, the man with the third eye. Styles, Lydia and the others go to Eichen House to find out what he knows.”
Teen Wolf airs Mondays at 10pm on MTV.
Rowell was born and raised on Maui, Hawai’i, and now lives in the almost-as-green Pacific Northwest. He’s obsessed with Cirque du Soleil, loves teen dramas (especially those with a supernatural element) and horror movies, and is addicted to sushi. Prior to PopWire, he created individual fan sites for the shows Friends, Hellcats, Nikita and others, which led to creating and working on OMFGTV.
