Ms. Marvel proves that its spectacular first episode wasn’t a fluke in “Crushed,” which sees Kamala test her new powers, get a new crush and save the day in an unexpected way. Let’s dive in!
The Morning After | Kamala (Iman Vellani) struts into her high school with a newfound confidence after finding out that she has superpowers, but ends up ungracefully running into the new guy, Kamran (Rish Shah), whom she immediately crushes on. Bruno (Matt Lintz) demands her to show off her powers again, while the school is abuzz about what happened at AvengerCon, since Zoe (Laurel Marsden) is bragging about having been saved by “Budget Captain Marvel,” which of course makes Kamala beam with pride. Zoe announces that she’s throwing a party to celebrate her life and when she invites Kamran, Kamala coerces Bruno and Nakia (Yasmeen Fletcher) into going to it.
Ch-Ch-Changes | Kamala and Bruno test out her powers on the roof of a convenience store and Bruno finds out that the bracelet is not giving her her powers, but it’s coming from inside her. Afterwards, Kamala and Nakia head off to their mosque and Nakia decides to run for the mosque’s board. The group then heads off to Zoe’s party, which is quickly interrupted by the cops, but Kamran gives them a ride home and even gives his phone number to Kamala after they bond over Bollywood movies.

The next day, Bruno is informed that he got into a CalTech program for next semester and Kamala has dinner with her family who talk about her great-grandmother Ayesha, who owned Kamala’s bracelet. Yusuf (Mohan Kapoor) tells a story of Ayesha getting separated from her family when they were fleeing the country and somehow found her way onto the last train. Kamala then sees a vision of a mystery woman and passes out and sneaks away to call her grandmother who refuses to talk about Ayesha.
Saving the Day | As Kamala and her family attend a festival where Nakia tries to sway people into voting for her for the board, Zoe is interrogated by Agent Cleary (Arian Moayed) demanding to know about how she was saved at AvengerCon. Kamala once again asks around about Ayesha and friends of her family say they heard rumors that she killed a man. Just then, a stupid kid tries to take selfies while hanging out of the mosque tower and surprise, surprise, falls out the window.
Kamala suits up in her Captain Marvel cosplay and rescues him, but then has another vision of the mystery woman and nearly lets the kid fall. She saves him, but runs off and is comforted by Damage Control drones and agents who try to arrest her, but she is rescued by Kamran in his car. When she gets in, the mystery woman is in the backseat, and Kamran introduces her as his mother, much to Kamala’s shock.
