“Motherland: Fort Salem” Series Finale ‘Revolution Part 2’ Recap: One Last Hoorah
It’s finally here, Switches. The Motherland: Fort Salem series finale on Freeform, and holy crap was it amazing! Not only was it ridiculously empowering and beautiful, but almost everyone survives and we see our trio become Goddesses! ‘Revolution Part 2’ was written by Eliot Laurence and directed by Amanda Tapping, who also voices The Mother at the end of the episode. Here’s all the craziness that went down!
The Final Steward | Alder (Lyne Renée) is still on a desperate search to find the Steward to the lost Abyssian line. Her search first takes her to Ghana, where she pisses off the military and flees through the mycelium. Next she goes to Kingston, Jamaica where she discovers documents that describe a very powerful witch being sold in Virginia. Finally she travels to that abandoned land and finds evidence that Jem Bellweather was a Steward, which now makes Abigail the final Steward. She has to rush to meet the group so they can sing the First Song and hopefully save the world.
Getting to the Mother | The core four, along with Adil (Tony Giroux), Petra (Catherine Lough Haggquist), Anacostia (Demetria McKinney), Sterling (Luc Roderique), and Gregorio (Praneet Akilla) head to Fort Salem for one final battle. Once they get there the core four and Adil head to the necro facility while the rest stay to ambush and fight Camarilla soldiers. Abigail (Ashley Nicole Williams) and Adil discuss their honeymoon plans while fighting through Camarilla, and they decide on the beach because Adil has never seen the ocean.

Outside, Petra and the others decide to ambush the waiting Camarilla soldiers with the Rings of Saturn. It works for a short amount of time, but then the Camarilla kill the sound. A truck goes hurtling towards our soldiers and Anacostia sacrifices herself to get everyone out of the way. Pour one out for Anacostia Quartermain.
The Camarilla placed poison bombs all over Fort Salem to inject into the Mother. Hearst (Bob Frazer) shows up and kills sound so no work can be done, and has those poison bombs go off. It has an immediate effect on Raelle (Taylor Hickson), and she falls and releases poison spores into the air. Some of those spores hit Scylla (Amalia Holm) and Adil, almost killing them. Now all three need to get to the Mother to be healed.
Tally (Jessica Sutton) and Abigail fight back Camarilla soldiers while Scylla gets Raelle to the Mother. Rae is able to open a doorway big enough for them to all go through. Tally and Abigail need to get to the Mother also, but can’t take down all the Camarilla in front of them. Nicte (Kandyse McClure) comes to the rescue! Her bats come in and take out the Camarilla, allowing for everyone to safely enter the Mother.
Inside | Inside the Mother things are looking grim. Rae, Scylla, and Adil are close to death and Tally is screaming for Alder to come help them. But after a few moments Tally’s demeanor switches, she’s figured out their purposes and why they are there. They’re going to help save everyone. Alder shows up with the Stewards and explains that Abigail is the last Steward. All of the Stewards gather around and sing their parts of the First Song. Rae uses her witchbomb abilities to spread the song into the Earth’s atmosphere. What happened next was phenomenal, Tally gets her Sight back and can see that they helped make everyone a witch. Rae is healed and able to save Scylla and Adil, hooray!
Saying Bye | After they exit the Mother everyone gathers outside and meets up with Petra and everyone else. The main group learn of Anacostia’s death and are all devastated. Later the Bellweather unit takes a helicopter ride with Alder. The Mother speaks to the unit through Alder, telling them that this was her plan all along, and that they are now Goddesses. After the Mother is done, Alder tells them that her job is done and now she must go. She has a touching goodbye with each of them before hanging out of the helicopter and disintegrating into the air. The episode ends with everyone saying “Hasa mia va,” let us begin.
