Recap of Episode “Delusional”

Freeform’s Motherland: Fort Salem just knocked it out of the parks with another fantastic episode! We watch as our favorite Cadets go on a mission to capture Nicte Batan and are totally not prepared for what they’re about to face. ‘Delusional’ was written by Kay Reindl and Erin Maher and directed by Kimani Ray Smith.

The Mission | Alder (Lyne Renée) gives Tally (Jessica Sutton) a mission, use her Sight to hunt down and kill Nicte Batan (Arlen Aguayo-Stewart). Tally only agrees to do it once Alder agrees that Raelle (Taylor Hickson) and Abigail (Ashley Nicole Williams) could go as well. Before Tally leaves to meet up with the others, Petra Bellweather (Catherine Lough Haggquist) meets with her and changes her objective; she is to capture Nicte, not kill her. Then Petra provides Tally with some type of magical muzzle to prevent Nicte from doing magic.

Raelle, Scylla (Amalia Holm), Abigail, and Adil (Tony Giroux) are still at the safe house. Abigail is not thrilled that Scylla has stayed and is spending to much time with Raelle, but Raelle seems okay with it. Tally arrives and the trio is reunited. Tally is thrown off by Scylla’s presence, but allows the Spree operative to join them since she is familiar with Nicte’s magic.

They meet up with the rest of their team and fly to where they know Nicte to be hiding. Once off the plane the group splits up and it doesn’t take long for Nicte’s mind tricks to begin.

Games | Nicte’s first trick causes every person to see, hear, and believe they are else where with other people and in danger. Raelle thinks she’s with her parents and her mother says horrible things about her and her father. Scylla has to almost kill her to break Raelle out of it. Tally thinks she’s becoming one of Alder’s Biddies again, Scylla and Raelle strangle her until she’s back with them. Abigial is a bit more difficult, because she’s using her weather magic which puts the rest of them in a lot more danger. They eventually wake her up from it and none of them get hurt. They go off in search of the rest of their team but are upset when they  find their bodies. Nicte’s tricks worked on them.

Nicte’s next trick hits when the foursome gets close to her cottage. They all begin arguing and eventually even physically fighting each other. Tally walks away and sees a bat, her Sight has returned and she can tell the bats are carrying Nicte’s magic. Suddenly Nicte steps out and Tally is face-to-face with the founder and leader of the Spree. They fight, but we don’t see much of it.

Because of Tally, Nicte’s magic lifts and the other three stop fighting and go to look for Tally. They find her standing over Nicte with a bloody rock, the witch injured on the ground. She puts the muzzle on Nicte, and immediately something seems slightly off about the situation and the way Tally is acting.

Surprise | Raelle and Scylla know they can’t head back to Fort Salem together, so Raelle tells Scylla to take Tiffany and go stay with Edwin (Hrothgar Mathews). That way Raelle knows where Scylla is and how to get ahold of her. They FINALLY kiss when they leave each other.

At Fort Salem, the Cadets meet Alder and her team outside. Alder is very mad at Petra for undermining her orders and not having Nicte killed. Tally is still acting strange, and it doesn’t take long to find out why. Nicte has used the face swapping magic so she and Tally could switch places. But it doesn’t work because Raelle and Abigail know better. Anacostia (Demetria McKinney) burns off Nicte’s false face and leaves her standing there, facing Alder.
