Freeform’s Motherland: Fort Salem just hit us with arguably the most emotional episode yet! We see Adil set aside his pacifist ways with Abigail, Tally finds out more about Nicte Batan, and an unlikely duo rescue Raelle from the Camarilla. “Irrevocable” was written by KD Dávila and Will J. Watkins and Directed by Shannon Kohli.
Not Pleased | Alder (Lyne Renée) is being healed from the attack against her when she learns of Raelle’s kidnapping, and she’s definitely not pleased. She wants to help retrieve their greatest asset, but Anacostia (Demetria McKinney) reminds her that she can’t leave the room she’s in, there might be another attack from the Spree against her. Petra (Catherine Lough Haggquist) tells Alder the VP is there to make their joint announcement about the testing centers. Because Alder can’t leave the room, Petra is going to make the announcement.
Tortured | Raelle (Taylor Hickson) wakes up strapped to a metal table, unable to move due to a paralytic. The man who attacked Abigail (Ashley Nicole Williams) is playing Doctor Psycho on her, he knows she’s very powerful and wants her voice box. He watches from another room as a surgeon begins the process of removing her voice box, but once Raelle’s life becomes threatened the mycelium comes out and kills all the threats in the room.
Once Doctor Psycho realizes Raelle can’t die he experiments and tortures her over and over. One time he places kidnapped children in the room hoping the mycelium would kill them, but to Raelle’s relief it did not. Every time Raelle “dies” she communicates with some unknown entity who tells her that she’s the one who’s going to “turn the tide” in the “great war.” Eventually, Doctor Crazy tries using Witch Plague on Raelle.
Answers | Tally gives the Army the information she has on what happened to Raelle, but is frustrated when they won’t allow her to help past that. She decides to find someone who will help, Quinn (Sandra Ferens). Quinn already knows the Camarilla are back and behind Raelle’s kidnapping. She’s meeting with a group of draft dodgers, Tally fills them in on all she knows about the Camarilla and wants them to warn all the witches they know.
A Pacifist No More | Adil (Tony Giroux) uses Charvel’s blood to make a blood compass for him and Abigail to follow. They are taking revenge against the Camarilla who killed Charvel and attacked the Tarim. They follow it hundreds of miles to where the Camarilla are. On the way they stop at a diner and see Abigail’s mother making the address with the VP. A group of people make rude comments about Petra just feet away from Abigail, who eventually says something that leads to Adil and another guy punching each other in the face. This is Adil’s first real act of violence towards anyone.
They follow the blood compass to an abandoned building, at least it looks abandoned. Adil uses his ability to turn them invisible so they can enter the building undetected. Once inside, they find the kidnapped children being kept in cages. They take out the Camarilla in the room, including the one with Charvel’s voice box. Abigail finds out Raelle is in the building and sets off to find her friend.
Rescue Mission | Scylla (Amalia Holm) poses as someone from War College and calls Raelle’s house to see if she’s alright, but she’s too late. The Camarilla already have Raelle. She and Willa (Diana Pavlovská) know what they have to do next, rescue her.
Willa and Scylla use their magic to make the Exarch take them to the building Raelle and all the kidnapped children are being held in. On the way, Willa confesses that leaving Raelle and joining the Spree was a huge mistake that she regrets every day.
Once they get to the building Willa and Scylla knock out the guards and go to the security room to search the cameras for Raelle. They eventually find her in the clean room, where she is being given with plague. Willa knows what that does, so they rush to rescue her daughter.
Sacrifice | The witch plague triggers the mycelium in Raelle to briefly come out, but it doesn’t stop it. She seems to actually be dying. Scylla and Willa find the clean room, and Willa enters to save her daughter. She tells Scylla to tell Raelle how much she loved her before going in.
Once inside, she hurries to Raelle’s side and heals her, taking the plague into her own body. Raelle is in the ethereal place she’s been going to when her mother shows up there. Willa doesn’t have much time to explain everything to Raelle, instead she tells her how much she loves her. The plague kills Willa, and Raelle briefly wakes up to see her mom on the ground beside her.
Abigail finds Scylla outside the clean room and is confused and angry, but begrudgingly works with her to save Raelle. The pair get Raelle out of the clean room before the witch plague can spread. They meet Adil and the kids and quickly exit the building. Once at a safe distance, Adil collapses it.
Later, Raelle wakes up in bed with Scylla in a chair beside her.
Betrayed | Tally goes to see Alder and learns that Raelle has been rescued by Abigail. Alder calls Raelle the “Asset” and Tally goes off on her. Before Alder can respond she gets attacked again. This time she gets pulled into the air as Nicte (Arlen Aguayo-Stewart) does the same thing to another witch elsewhere, puppeting Alder again. This shouldn’t be possible inside the warding circle, but it turns out one of the Biddies is working with Nicte and attacking Alder. Tally sees her with her Sight and attacks, protecting the General.
