“Moon Knight” Episode “The Tomb” Recap: Raiders of the Lost Tomb

Recap of episode “The Tomb”

Much has been made about Moon Knight‘s mind blowing fourth episode, “The Tomb.” Everyone from here to Timbuktu has teased that this episode is the game changer and is it? Well… see for yourself! Into “The Tomb” we go!

Three Against the World | With Steven (Oscar Isaac) still knocked out in the sand and mercenaries after him, Layla (May Calamawy) dispatches them with a flare just as Steven wakes up. Layla drives them to the camp where Harrow (Ethan Hawke) and his men have found Ahmet’s tomb, as Marc (Oscar Isaac) keeps begging Steven to give him the body, which Steven refuses to do. Right before they enter the tomb, Steven tells Layla that Marc is trying to keep her from becoming the next Moon Knight. He also kisses her, causing Marc to briefly take control of the body and make Steven hit himself.

Into the Tomb | Once inside, they find a stone table with fresh blood, never good, and bullets all over the floor, even worse. Then, a mummified skeleton looking thing runs in and kills one of Harrow’s men and tears his guts out in front of them- how this got onto Disney+ I’ll never know. Steven and Layla get separated and Layla nearly gets killed by another mummy thing, but she shoves it off a ledge and is then confronted by Harrow, who says that when he tried to judge Steven, he saw his memories and that Marc was the one who killed Layla’s father.

Save Yourself | Steven finds a tomb with the mummified corpse of Alexander the Great and reaches inside his gut to find the totem that holds Ahmet, just as Layla arrives and demands to know if what Harrow said was true. Marc takes over and says his partner was the one who killed her father, but Layla still blames him for leading the mercenaries to him. Then, Harrow and his men arrive and Layla hides just as Harrow outright shoots Marc twice.

Next thing we know, in a “Legion” like tizzy, we are now in a white room with Marc drugged out and Layla keeping him company. Marc is next in a doctor’s office with Harrow as his therapist who blames his psychosis on the “Indiana Jones”-esque film he watches all the time. Marc runs away from Harrow as soon as he comes to and finds a tomb in one office that has Steven inside it. The two of them break free and see another tomb with something trying to get out and are then met by a giant hippo person who waves at them, sending them into a panic.

Moon Knight is now streaming on Disney+
