In its third episode, Moon Knight deepens its lore and adds lots of new stuff to chew on until next week, not to mention tons of action and mysteries. “The Friendly Type” has so much going on in it, so let’s dive in!
Fists to a Knife Fight | Marc (Oscar Isaac) is in Egypt chasing after men who work for Harrow (Ethan Hawke), but Steven (Oscar Isaac) keeps taking over his body and he blacks out numerous times. He ends up on a cliffside trying to interrogate one thug, but that thug commits suicide before talking. Marc begs for assistance from Khonshu (F. Murray Abraham) to find Harrow and Khonshu’s response is to block out the sun with the moon. Khonshu ushers Marc into a the middle of the pyramid of Giza, where he must plead his case to the other avatars of the Egyptian gods.
The Trial of Arthur Harrow | The other gods demand that Khonshu explain his actions since he was exiled for interfering with mankind’s affairs. Khonshu, speaking through Marc, demands to put Harrow on trial for his crimes, and Harrow is summoned to the pyramid. Harrow tells the gods that Khonshu’s avatar is mentally unwell and when Marc doesn’t deny it, the gods let him go. One of the avatars, however, has mercy on Marc and tells him that an ancient sarcophagus can lead him to the tomb of Ahmet that Harrow is seeking. Marc is then found by Layla (May Calamawy), who knows someone who bought the sarcophagus on the black market.

Buying Time | Layla and Marc see a collector named Anton (Gaspard Ulliel), who is just about to show them the sarcophagus, when Harrow arrives and offers Anton a chance to join him. He also tells Layla that Marc is hiding something from her, which Marc denies. Harrow destroys the sarcophagus and escapes, but Moon Knight arrives again and kills all the guards and Anton.
Layla and Marc gather what’s left of the scraps from the sarcophagus and try to decipher the clues from it, but only Steven can, so Marc lets him have the body. Steven puts the pieces together and finds a map in the stars that can lead to the tomb, but it was only valid centuries ago and the stars have changes since. Khonshu tells Steven that he can turn back the stars, but it will come at a cost. Using Steven’s body, Khonshu rewinds the sky so Layla can find the coordinates to the tomb, but the other gods imprison Khonshu as a result. Khonshu tells Steven to free him before he is tethered to the pyramid, but Steven is knocked out and doesn’t come to. The other gods show Harrow a statue containing Khonshu and Harrow tells it that he will finish what Khonshu started.
