Loki‘s season finale, “For All Time. Always.,” is here and it brings with it plenty of questions and a new addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe that opens up new possibilities. There’s a LOT to talk about, so let’s go!
The Citadel | Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino) arrive at the citadel at the end of time and are greeted by Miss Minutes (Tara Strong), who offers them the chance to rule a timeline together with free will if they leave now. Neither of them fall for that and continue into the main hall, as Mobius (Owen Wilson) confronts Ravonna (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) about her lies, telling her that Hunter B-15 (Wunmi Mosaku) led other hunters to a high school in 2018 where a version of Ravonna is the principal, exposing her lies.
He Who Remains | After Ravonna escapes through a time portal, Loki and Sylvie are greeted by a very sketchy guy (Jonathan Majors), who takes them to his office and tells them a story about how he and other variants of himself unlocked the multiverse and created a peaceful existence between all timelines, until one variant went renegade. This heavily implies that this guy is Kang the Conqueror, but the credits simply call him “He Who Remains,” so make of that what you will…
Who Do You Trust? | Kang continues and tells Loki and Sylvie that he has foreseen everything leading up to this moment and that they have a choice: Kill him and potentially unleash a worse version of Kang from another timeline, or take over his position as ruler of the TVA. Sylvie is convinced that Kang is lying, but Loki tries to talk Sylvie out of killing him, which puts them at odds.
They fight it out, but Loki steps in front of Sylvie before she can kill Kang and they kiss (?) right before Sylvie teleports Loki back to the TVA. She then stabs Kang through the chest and he smiles and says, “See you soon.” This causes numerous branching realities and timelines and as the TVA panic to find out what’s going on, Loki arrives and tries to tell Mobius what just happened, but for some reason, Mobius has no idea who Loki is…
Loki is now streaming on Disney+ and will return for season two.
