“Legion” Recap: I Am Legion

In “Legion’s” season 2 finale, “Chapter 19,” the show changes everything. No, really. Check our math.

David is forced to make a difficult choice in the battle to stop Farouk, one which could mean unthinkable tragedy.

Something’s Wrong | As David and Farouk do psychic battle in the desert, Lenny finds the diving rod that will neutralize their powers and manages to ring it, giving David the opportunity to beat Farouk to a pulp. Interrupting the moment is Syd, who points a gun at David and tells him that he ends the world. She shoots him, but Lenny fires a perfectly timed bullet that destroys Syd’s bullet.

The Delusion | David ends up in his childhood bedroom with other versions of himself who try to convince him that his love for Syd is just a delusion and he doesn’t deserve happiness. When David wakes up, he uses his powers to erase Syd’s memories of wanting to kill him as Division 3 arrests Farouk and Lenny, for some reason. David visits Farouk in his cell, but Farouk tells David that when Syd finds out the truth, she’ll turn against him. And then Farouk whispers instructions to a mouse who sneaks into Syd’s room and tells her the truth. Only “Legion” could make a talking mouse a plot point.

Treachery | The next morning, David walks into Farouk’s trial, but is trapped in an energy field by Syd and company. They try to convince David that he will end the world and he needs mental help. Syd coldly tells David that he’s sick and delusional, which David for a split second starts to believe. Then, he essentially goes “I’m not listening to you” in the most epic way: By teleporting out of the room and taking Lenny with him before leaving to God-knows-where. Syd and the others are left to pray that David won’t end the world.

See? Everything is wrong and the hero is now the villain. Game. Changer.
