“Legion” Recap: Red Means Stop

The full picture of “Legion’s” second season is slowly coming into place in “Chapter 10.” It’s still confusing as hell, though. David reluctantly agrees to help Farouk find his body, but a lot of people get caught in the crossfire. When David tries to communicate with Syd again, more questions arise.

The Diversion | David meets Oliver and Lenny on a merry-go-round and agrees to distract the rest of the Division team by luring them into the desert to find a music box from Syd’s childhood that Syd really doesn’t like. While this is going on, Oliver and Lenny walk into the Division’s headquarters and slaughter a ton of innocent people and also mess up Cary and Kerry’s connection by simply touching them. Now, Cary is trapped inside Kerry instead of the other way around and Kerry now has a streak of white hair a-la Rogue.

A Message from the Future | With Kerry’s help, David goes back into the “Fringe” tank and meets future Syd, who I failed to mention is missing an arm, and gets an unusual amount of context by “Legion” standards. Future Syd tells David that he kills Farouk a week from now- Spoiler, I guess- and in the future, some horrible… something kills most of the population. David meets present day Syd, who has amusingly switched bodies with a cat, and tells her about the future her and she agrees to help David find Farouk’s body.

We See Everything | Fukuyama suspects that David is hiding something and also reveals that some monk from the Migo Order is responsible for hiding Farouk’s body. Speaking of world building, Cary briefly mentions the Shi’ar Empire while inspecting the pod that took David! Great time to be an X-Men fan! Anyway, David psychically meets Farouk at a fortune teller’s booth and Farouk tells David that the two of them together would be unstoppable. David makes Farouk promise not to kill anymore, but we’ll see how long that lasts. Also, Lenny tries to convince Farouk to give her a new body outside of the astral plane, but Farouk points out that in her current form, she’s practically immortal. Tough to argue with that…

“Legion” airs Tuesdays on FX.
