This week’s Legacies is one of the strongest episodes this season, with intrigue, answers to long awaited mysteries and even some humor as well. In “I Was Made to Love You,” Hope tests her theory that Landon is not who he claims to be, while Josie and Alaric find a familiar face while searching for answers. MG and Ethan’s friendship hits a crossroads, while a shocking betrayal takes place…

Do You Lift? | Landon (Aria Shahghasemi) sneaks out of Hope’s (Danielle Rose Russell) bedroom in the middle of the night to life weights with Jed (Ben Levin)- over 300 pounds worth of weights. Meanwhile, Lizzie (Jenny Boyd) leaves a note for Josie (Kaylee Bryant) telling her the truth about Finch (Courtney Bandeko) and also saying that she’s leaving town for a witch retreat to work out her issues. Josie returns to the School and Alaric (Matthew Davis) enlists her help to track down the Necromancer (Ben Geurens), believing that he’s behind the monsters, and the two of them find a human version of him playing the organ at a funeral home and acting very kind and friendly to a widow.

Fire in the Hole | Hope tests her theory by sneaking avocados, which Landon is deathly allergic to, into his food and when nothing happens, she knocks him out and recruits Cleo (Omono Okojie) into helping her test him. MG (Quincy Fouse) finally tells the injured Ethan (Leo Howard) the truth about the supernatural world and Ethan immediately demands that MG turn him into a vampire. After insisting that he is not the Necromancer and simply a guy named Ted, the guy Josie is interrogating advises her to simply talk to Finch and tell her how she feels. But soon after, the corpse in the casket at the funeral home comes to life and Ted cackles like the Necromancer.

Hope and Cleo lock Landon in the shack behind the school and demand that he give them a blood sample, but his blood is actually mud that looks like Malivore’s mud. Hope’s backup plan is to drop a sample of her blood onto his skin and it nearly destroys his arm. Hope sends Cleo off to get help, but this leaves the Landon thing to trap her in the shack. Back with MG and Ethan and Ethan takes MG’s daylight ring so he can’t stop him from killing himself with vampire blood in his system that MG used to heal his wounds from the other night.

Not Who You Think I Am | Ted still insists that he means no harm, but Alaric is not convinced and asks him to resurrect Leonardo DaVinci to get answers on the artifact he designed, but Josie shoots down this idea. That doesn’t stop Ted from bringing DaVinci back anyway! One problem: DaVinci only speaks Italian! MG nearly gets burnt to a crisp trying to save Ethan from leaping off a cliff, but Ethan rescues him with the daylight ring.

As Hope and the Landon thing fight it out, Hope sees the word “Luctus” emblazoned onto his shoulder, much like the bust of Landon that Hope made a few episodes prior. This means that Landon is a golem created from Hope’s memories of him, but Landon also says that it was Cleo that created him.

Speaking of Cleo, she walks in to Alaric’s office and DaVinci speaks to her in Italian and seems to recognize her. She then grabs a spear from Alaric, locks him in the office and stabs Hope after she’s destroyed the Landon golem with her blood. Cleo spills that she was trapped in the artifact for years, before she gets knocked out by the skull helmeted mystery figure. Ted finds a spell that can get Alaric out of the office, but he sacrifices himself to do it, redeeming himself in Alaric’s eyes.

As Josie and Finch finally kiss after Josie offers her a chance to go to the Salvatore School, MG compels Ethan to forget that they were ever friends as well as everything he knows about the supernatural world. The skull helmet guy removes said helmet and it turns out to be- Landon!

Legacies airs Thursdays at 9/8c on The CW.
