Happy St. Patrick’s Day, Legacies fans! The show gets very festive for this week’s episode, “Yup, It’s a Leprechaun, All Right,” when a leprechaun shows up just as the School puts on a fundraiser.
Fundraiser Day | With the Salvatore School still in debt due to a lack of students and Alaric (Matthew Davis) recently served a summons for the $91,000 he owes the bank, Lizzie (Jenny Boyd) mobilizes the remaining students for a fundraiser day, ordering MG (Quincy Fouse), who she’s still pissed at, to whip up baked goods and Hope (Danielle Rose Russell) teams up with Cleo (Omono Okojie) to create art for an auction, but things get profoundly creepy when Cleo suggests using Landon’s (Aria Shahghasemi) remains to create a bust of his head!
As Alaric heads off to the bank, he tasks Kaleb (Chris Lee) with making sure no one uses magic to get the money they need, meaning he has to keep Lizzie in check. When a rainbow arrives in the sky, Kaleb follows it to find a leprechaun, which they lock in the basement, but when Lizzie finds out that leprechauns bring good fortune, she convinces Kaleb to keep it secret while tons of people arrive to spend money at the fundraiser.
Isolated Incidents | As MG struggles to keep up with the bake sale, while also distracted by a box from Alyssa (Olivia Liang), Josie (Kaylee Bryant) arrives to help. Meanwhile, a rich woman demands to buy Hope’s sculpture of Landon, but when Hope says no, she tries to stab her before Hope literally lays her out with one punch. As other people start going crazy with greed, Lizzie shows Hope the leprechaun, and Hope deduces that this means Malivore has somehow escaped.
As Alaric meets the banker, Vera, who turns out to be the mother of Dana, who died horribly in season 1, and a hater of the Saltzman family, the crowd at the fundraiser turns into an angry mob and Lizzie vows to fix it, while Hope lets the leprechaun free to follow it back to wherever it came from in an effort to save Landon.
The Right Way | Josie takes MG to a magical herb garden, when she accidentally gets high on an herb that makes her tell the truth, forcing her to blurt out that she’s nervous about her upcoming study date with Finch (Courtney Bandeko). When MG tells her that fear shouldn’t get in the way of what you really want, he has an epiphany and races back to the school. At the bank, Vera approves Alaric’s loan- but only if he sleeps with her!!! To Alaric’s credit, he doesn’t go through with it, mostly because the leprechaun steals an armored car from the bank, but also because he’s a good guy! Hope and Cleo follow the leprechaun to a parking garage, where Alaric meets them, and the leprechaun tries to kill Alaric, forcing Cleo to cast a spell that makes it explode, pissing off Hope since she wanted to follow its trail.
Josie races back to Mystic Falls High, but is too late to meet Finch. Finch is hesitant to accept Josie’s apology, but eventually agrees to a date with her. As the group collects the cash that came from the exploded leprechaun to save the school, Cleo tells Hope that her obsession with saving Landon is going to consume her. MG goes to Lizzie and tells her what was in Alyssa’s box that she left behind- the Ascendant that holds the key to the prison world Landon is trapped in, meaning that MG has had it the whole time. Lizzie and Hope already found the Ascendant and both are pissed!
