This week’s “Legacies” gives away the monster of the week in its title, “There’s a Mummy On Main Street,” and yet delivers a few surprises. Alaric takes the students on a road trip to South Carolina to find the missing urn and runs into a familiar face. Kaleb gets to unleash his full potential, while tensions between Lizzie and Hope flare up.
Road Trip! | Having somehow removed the slug from his brain after last week, Alaric is now hellbent on finding the urn, tracking its location to a dam in South Carolina. He takes Dorian, Emma, Kaleb, Hope and the twins along on a lengthy car ride, during which Lizzie accuses Hope of starting a fire at the school three years ago and spreading a nasty rumor about her.

Creepy Crawlers | Soon after arriving at the town where the urn has ended up, a swarm of bugs invade the town but instantly die. Seconds later, a HAZMAT team arrives a-la every virus movie ever made and leads the population to a medical camp. There, Hope and Alaric run into Ryan Clark, the mystery man from Triad Industries, who only Hope remembers, while Dorian finds the urn, but it is taken from him by a mummy.
The Plague Problem | Clark proposes an alliance between Triad and Alaric and company, as he is aware of the Salvatore School. He asks them to kill the mummy and deliver the urn to them, which Alaric agrees to, but asks Kaleb to compel a Triad worker to steal the urn and deliver it to them later. After Hope and the twins kill the mummy, Clark bids adieu to Alaric while also threatening to potentially investigate the school if he crosses him again.
On the way home, after acquiring the urn, our heroes are stopped by Clark, who has Dorian and Emma hostage. Left with no choice, Alaric gives Clark the urn in exchange for his friends. When they return to the school, Kaleb tells Alaric that the students need to be at their full potential to fight the monsters. Lizzie figures out that the rumor Hope supposedly started was in fact started by Josie, who told her sister that Hope slandered her to distract from the fact that Josie had a crush on Hope and slipped a note under her door telling her so. When Josie tried to destroy the note, she started a fire in Hope’s room that destroyed a painting Hope had done with Klaus. So, just to recap, Josie’s had at least three love interests so far!
Speaking of relationship drama, Emma confesses to Dorian that she kissed Alaric and he angrily punches Alaric after finding out that he kissed her back. In Alaric’s defense, he did not know Dorian was Emma’s girlfriend at the time. But in more pressing news, Clark kills yet another innocent Triad guard and delivers the urn to Malivore. Two down, one to go…
