“Legacies” gets horrific and surprisingly musical in its latest episode, “We’re Going to Need a Bigger Spotlight.” As the Salvatore School puts on its annual talent show, the latest monster begins to infect the student body one by one. Alaric and Emma grow closer, while Lizzie tries to turn over a new leaf.
The Trojan Unicorn | After Hope sets a trap around the urn’s location, it goes off and Hope, Alaric and Dorian find a trapped unicorn. They don’t kill it, but a slug pops out of the unicorn, unseen to all, and goes into Hope’s nose! Essentially, this week’s monster is the slugs from “Slither.” Hope starts acting unusually positive and ends up spreading the slugs to almost everyone in school, timed perfectly with the school’s talent show.

Positive Power | As everyone in school starts acting on impulse, Penelope gives a note to Josie, which Josie refuses to read. Soon after, Josie gets infected and tells Lizzie that she wants to sing at the talent show. As Hope and Landon are making out in the kitchen, Hope gets shocked by an outlet and the slug pops out of her. They present their findings to Dorian and quickly discover the entire student body is infected and the infected are trying to get the urn.
Meanwhile, Emma tries to distract Alaric from his stress filled life by taking him to a bar and getting drunk. They end up drunkenly making out, despite Emma saying that she has a boyfriend, and then Dorian calls to inform them of the slugs and electricity gets the slugs out. Alaric shocks Emma, un-infecting her, but he’s okay!
Let’s Get this Party Started! | Hope and Landon discover that Lizzie is the sole non infected student due to a bracelet that shocks her whenever she says something mean in her effort to change her ways. Alaric and Emma return to the school, where Alaric discovers that Dorian is Emma’s boyfriend- didn’t see that coming!- and they use a spell to shock the students and save them. Unfortunately, Josie and Penelope are still infected, but that doesn’t stop them from making out! Penelope claims that her note to Josie was a plea to get back together with her, but Josie says she won’t… before they kiss some more.
Hope arrives before they can steal the urn and Lizzie puts the bracelet on Josie and asks if she’s a good sister. When Josie says that Lizzie is the worst, the shock saves her. After saving the school, Lizzie asks Josie to sing at the talent show and she brings down the house. Also on the musical theme, Landon sings a love song to Hope, which moves her to tears. But just in case you thought this week was a fun detour, one last slug gets ahold of Alaric and he throws the urn into the river, presumably returning it to Malivore.
