In an already season-long highlight of an episode of “Legacies,” “Malivore” has Alaric and Dorian interrogate another monster who may hold the key to what’s been going on with the magical community. Hope is forced to make a difficult decision regarding Landon, while Penelope confronts Lizzie about her selfishness.
Good News, Bad News | After last week’s cliffhanger, turns out Dorian very quickly killed the wraith that came after him, but then a tree spirit woman arrives to take the knife. Alaric and Dorian manage to trap her in a magic circle and she says that she’ll answer their questions if they find Oliver, the man that she loved many years ago, who is now a vampire. Problem: Oliver not only doesn’t remember her, but he’s married. The spirit tells Alaric and Dorian that the knife is essentially the One Ring, convincing all magical beings around it to take it to a dark pit called Malivore. But the spirit tries to attack them and take the knife and Dorian is forced to kill her with Alaric’s crossbow. They do bury her and she sprouts into a massive tree.

I’m With Her | Before leaving, Alaric tasks the Salvatore School student body with electing three representatives from the vampire, werewolf and witch factions to vote on important issues. Lizzie runs for the witch seat, MG runs for the vampire seat and Rafael takes a stand against Jed and runs for the werewolf seat. Rafael wins his vote, but in a shocking twist, MG is beat out by the imprisoned Kaleb- I think being in jail disqualifies him, but whatever- and Penelope convinces the witches to vote for Josie.
Bias | Hope interrogates Landon about his mysterious lineage and he says he only has one picture of his birth mother, aside from that, he has no idea what he is. After Jed gets the crap kicked out of him by Rafael, he beats the crap out of Landon in revenge. Hope asks the wounded Landon if he feels safe at the school and he says yes, but Hope’s magical lie detector crystal ball says otherwise.
Hope talks Alaric into giving her a seat with Kaleb, Josie and Rafael on the board as they vote on whether or not Landon stays. Emma votes for Landon to stay, but in another shocking twist, Hope votes for him to leave because it’s not safe for him. Kaleb backs her up and Rafael votes for Landon to stay, but in yet another shocking twist, Josie critically votes for Landon to leave because of all the danger he’s caused at the school.
Meanwhile, Penelope confronts Lizzie and tells her that her selfishness is why Josie and Penelope broke up and she didn’t even ask Josie if she wanted to run for the witches’ seat. The devastated Lizzie then tells Rafael to go out with Josie- right before sleeping with him right then and there! The message of the episode just went out the window! Hope bids Landon adieu at the bus stop, but buys him a ticket to New Orleans where she says a “family friend” will help him find his birth mother. Problem: Landon’s picture of his birth mother shows her wearing the symbol of Malivore.
