It’s anything but a happy Easter Sunday on HBO’s The Last of Us If you somehow have dodged spoilers, you’re in for a brutal ride and if you know what’s going to happen… well…
The Hunt | Abby (Kaitlyn Dever) along with the rest of her crew are holed up in a building overlooking the community in Wyoming. The gang, including Mel (Ariela Barer) and Nora (Tati Gabrielle) are dismayed to learn that the town is more fortified than they thought and are worried that they’ll be outnumbered. As Abby goes outside to take stock of the situation, Owen (Spencer Lord) tells the others that they need to convince Abby to turn back or else they’re all getting killed. Back in town, Jesse (Young Mazino) wakes up Ellie (Bella Ramsey) for her morning patrol and she confesses to having kissed Dina (Isabella Merced), but Jesse already knows.
Jesse tells Ellie that they found 30 infected hiding beneath some dead bodies in the wild and they want someone to investigate it. Ellie insists on going out with Joel (Pedro Pascal), telling Jesse that there are no issues between them, but Jesse says that he already went out with Dina. Tommy (Gabriel Luna) prepares the community in case there’s a breach in the gates and on her way out, Ellie runs into Seth, the guy that insulted her at the party, who apologizes to her.
The Storm | As Ellie and Jesse head out and patrol, a snowstorm starts rolling in, which messes with the walkie talkies of everyone on patrol. Tommy orders the patrols to head back, but Ellie and Jesse are too far out, so they hide in an empty convenience store, which is full of weed. Jesse says that Eugene found the store a while back as Ellie finds a Firefly medallion with Eugene’s name on it.

Abby falls down a snowy hill while on lookout and ends up disturbing a horde of infected hiding beneath the snow, who chase after her. She runs to a wall and manages to scale the ladder over the wall into the town, but the infected break through the fence and one tries to bite her, but it gets shot in the head by Joel, who takes Abby to safety in a warehouse. Dina is there and addresses Joel by name, which Abby reacts to and she offers to take them to where her friends are hiding.
Someone from the town radios Jesse and asks where Joel and Dina are, which Ellie hears. The two of them race to find them on horseback as the infected are charging towards Jackson Hole. Tommy leads a group of people to toss gasoline barrels at the infected and light them on fire. Unfortunately, the infected go around and break through a wooden fence and get into the town. Tommy tries to lure one of the big ones away from everyone else and eventually burns it with a flamethrower, while Maria (Rutina Wesley) frees attack dogs that maul the infected.
It Happens | Abby takes Joel and Dina to the building where her crew are and tells them all who Joel is. Abby orders Mel to knock out Dina and they all point their guns at Joel. Abby threatens to kills Dina unless Joel tells the truth about the Fireflies, but then shotguns Joel in the knee. She tells him that the doctor he killed was her father and that she was trained not to kill someone defenseless- but she’s going to kill him anyway.
Ellie follows the trail from the snow towards where Abby is as she is beating Joel with a golf club. Ellie enters the building with her gun drawn, but is immediately subdued by Nora and forced to watch as Abby stabs Joel to death with the club. Abby and her crew simply leave her there with Joel’s body. Jesse arrives and takes Ellie and Dina back to the ruined town, dragging Joel’s body behind them.
