Surely by now, you have all seen exactly how Jane (Gina Rodriguez) of The CW’s new drama/comedy Jane the Virgin got artificially inseminated, and in the new video interview with the very sexy Justin Baldoni who plays Raphael, we get to know the why.

“Every single character has a whole lot of different layers and a whole lot of different secrets,” Baldoni says. “Especially Rafael’s sister who is a wonderful, wonderful girl but she finds out that her wife is cheating on her and then accidentally puts [his] sperm in the wrong person.”
Naturally, when something as big as finding your spouse sleeping with another person happens, you’re definitely not in the right frame of mind when you have to show up to work. All that distress can make you do crazy things!

Fortunately for the show, the craziness doesn’t end there. “Everybody has got secrets,” teases Baldoni. “Everybody’s got amazing stories to tell.”
