“iZombie: The Complete First Season” Now Available to Own on DVD
The saying goes, “You are what you eat.” In the case of The CW’s new un-dead dramedy iZombie, it’s more “You become who you eat.”
That’s more appropriate seeing that the series’ main character inherits the visions and traits of victims whose brains she consumes. Naturally, she’s the perfect aid for police investigations, and she is in fact enlisted to help solve the murders of said victims.
Marshmallows, or fans of UPN’s cult favorite Veronica Mars had a huge void in their lives after the series ran its course and went off the air, but with much of the same team re-uniting to bring iZombie to The CW, all is well again.
Much like the Kristen Bell-lead series, iZombie’s leading lady Liv Moore (Rose McIver) has a sharp tongue and inner monologue that guides viewers through each installment.

While Liv is not as quick and witty as Veronica Mars, she is extremely likable and a welcome addition into our homes every week. The same, however, cannot be said for Liv’s personal relationships at home. The mother and brother characters don’t add much to the series and would do well without them.
On Liv’s professional side, her partner in crime Dr. Chakrabarti and Detective Babineaux gel well together. The three of them have great chemistry on screen, so it’s always a joy to watch them work together on the case of the week.
What iZombie has that Veronica Mars didn’t was the supernatural/sci-fi element as well as the gut-busting humor. The supernatural narrative as well as the series itself being a DC Comics property, makes it a perfect fit for The CW.
iZombie is outright fun, up until the season’s heartbreaking finale and the final seconds leading to an OMFG cliffhanger. Rob Thomas and Diane Ruggiero-Wright have brought to television another long-needed lovable heroine (with a twist!) that we can all root for.
