“Iron Fist” closes out its first season with “Dragon Plays With Fire.” With Danny and Colleen on the run, Harold rises to take control of Rand Enterprises. Ward must decide where his loyalties lie and Danny discovers a horrible truth.

The whole morality angle of the season really came to a head in this finale, as Danny discovered that Harold was the one who murdered his parents. This was not a shock at all, seeing as the whole killed-by-your-business-partner angle is cliched to the point of comedy, but it did give Danny the ultimate question: Should he kill Harold for revenge?
Danny went back and forth on this a lot during this episode and in the end, spared Harold, only for Ward to finish him off. This honestly felt like cheating seeing as Ward faces no consequence for the decision that the show just spent an hour discussing the negatives of. At least it gave Ward see closure for his daddy issues, though.
Then, the real cliffhanger of the season: Danny and Colleen try to return to K’un Lun, only to find bodies murdered by the Hand. And Davos is in league with Gao and wants Joy to help him kill Danny. Whether this will carry over to “The Defenders” has yet to be seen, but if so, it could give the crossover a huge payoff.
“Dragon Plays With Fire” ended the season on an uneven note, finally dealing with its moral question- but not quite. It also set up a cool prelude to “The Defenders,” which will hopefully not disappoint when it hits Netflix come August.
