“Iron Fist” Episode Review: The Biggest Disappointment

Things get real on “Iron Fist’s” penultimate episode, “Bar the Big Boss.” Bakuto offers Ward an intriguing deal, forcing Danny to decide once and for all how far he’s willing to go as the Iron Fist.

This episode had an intense standoff feeling to it, as Bakuto aligned with Ward to get into Harold’s penthouse and then shot Joy, threatening to let her bleed out unless Danny surrendered. This lead to Davos once again chastising Danny for refusing to let people die in order to take the Hand down. It’s always fun for heroes to realize that maybe their friends aren’t who they thought they were, so this whole bloodthirsty Davos angle is actually pretty fun.

That lead to a battle between Danny, Colleen, Davos and Bakuto which felt like something out of a Chinese samurai movie. Then Davos up and murdered Bakuto in cold blood, leading to a fight between him and Danny, before Davos leaves and Bakuto’s corpse disappears. This is exactly why you always guard the dead bad guy!

All seems completely resolved, but of course, there’s one more episode left, so cliffhanger time! Danny and Colleen are attacked by the DEA, who were most likely tipped off by Harold. Dum dum dum!

“Bar the Big Boss” was an epic episode with a grand finale that would’ve been best saved for the actual season finale. Still, the intriguing cliffhanger sets up more problems for our heroes to face for the final episode of the season.

Iron Fist is available to stream on Netflix.
