“Iron Fist” Episode Review: The Death and Resurrection Show

On “Iron Fist’s” ninth episode, “The Mistress of All Agonies,” Danny, Colleen and Claire try to get information from Madame Gao, which forces them to make a difficult decision. Harold inexplicably returns from the dead and Ward must decide if his father’s intentions are true.

With under five episodes to go in “Iron Fist’s” first season, things definitely got interesting in this one. First up, Harold returns from the dead, albeit with a brief loss of knowledge, and tries to make amends with Ward. But turns out Harold is still evil, killing his poor assistant and planting drugs in Ward’s car, getting him arrested. And to top it off, he finally meets Joy and according to Ward’s contact, may kill her.

On the Danny/Colleen/Claire side of things, Gao predictably dodged their questions and played mind games with them, which went nowhere with the notable exception of her telling Claire that she wants to be special. Could Claire get superpowers in the near future? Colleen was poisoned by the battle from the previous episode and Danny called Bakudo to help. Bakudo was cryptic as ever, helping Danny heal Colleen before taking everyone but Claire for a ride in mysterious black cars, always a good way to earn trust. There’s also a mystery man with throwing stars who seems to have a grudge against Danny…

“The Mistress of All Agonies” was a solid hour, with tons of interesting scenes and building up some mystery for where the show will take its’ final four episodes. With Bakudo taking center stage, Harold going crazy again and a mystery assassin, season 1 will hopefully go out with a bang.
