“Iron Fist” Episode Review: Divided We Fall
On “Iron Fist’s” eighth episode, “The Blessing of Many Fractures,” Danny, Colleen and Claire hatch a plan to end the Hand’s operation once and for all. Ward and Joy clash over how to proceed with their company’s severance offer, while Ward’s guilt over his father’s death grows.

This episode really shined a light on the contradiction between the show’s themes of martial arts and corporate drama. On the one hand, we got Danny, Colleen and Claire traveling to China to stop Gao, leading to another round of fight scenes. While Colleen got a cool showdown with a female swordsman, Danny’s battle against a drunken doorman- yes, really- was outright laughable and went on for way too long. The whole plot culminated in the revelation that Gao was responsible for the plane crash that killed Danny’s parents and Danny managed to control himself and take Gao in instead.
Ward and Joy got some good drama this week as they clashed over whether or not to accept a severance pay from Lawrence. While Joy sneakily hired Jessica Jones to dig up dirt on the Rand board, Ward finally confronted his sisters undying loyalty to him and attempted to tell her the truth about Harold, but chickened out. The good news was that the Ward/Joy drama was well acted and written and gave these two a real sense of family for once.
“The Blessing of Many Fractures” divided the two angles of the show into drama and action. While it contradicted, that’s the point of the show and both angles worked on their own.
