“Iron Fist” Episode Review: Cloak of Bravado
“Iron Fist” plugs along with “Felling Tree With Roots,” where Danny discovers a shocking secret about Rand Enterprises and Ward’s patience with his father reaches a breaking point.

In one of “Iron Fist’s” strongest episodes yet, Danny discovers that Rand Enterprises is harboring the Hand’s drug smuggling operation. This episode showed off more of Madame Gao, as she arrived in his office to threaten him in a scene reminiscent of Gao’s showdown with Wilson Fisk in “Daredevil.” The idea that Gao was potentially working with Danny’s father not only gives us a mystery to unpack, but has dark implications about legacy on this series.
Speaking of legacy, Ward finally snaps and straight up murders Harold in cold blood. This was a true shocker, especially as Harold was starting to finally help Danny take down the Hand. Sure, he hacked Hand thugs to bits with a hammer and drained Ward’s accounts, but this episode did more to put us into Harold’s mindset, seeing as this is his last episode.
Also, we got a brief tease of Bakuto, played by Ramon Rodriguez, who has some past with Colleen. This immediately after she slept with Danny, natch. What Bakuto’s role in the series has yet to be seen, but this is clearly an introduction to him that seems important. Oh, Marvel…
PS. Karen Page gets name dropped again as she breaks a story about Danny’s heroism on the chemical plant deal. Sounds like her journalism career is going swimmingly.
“Felling Tree With Roots” was the strongest “Iron Fist” episode yet and a real turning point for the series. The first real game changer for the show, it’s a “What will happen next” moment that payed off big time.
