“Iron Fist” Episode Review: Back to Business

In “Iron Fist’s” fourth episode, “Eight Diagram Dragon Palm,” Danny finally confronts Harold, resulting in a surprising twist. Joy is attacked by a triad, forcing Danny to take drastic measures.

With Danny finally back at Rand Enterprises, the show decided to deliver another mellow episode with only one real action set piece in the final act. Harold makes his presence known to Danny and offers him his help in taking down the Hand. This includes giving Danny his seat on the board back and making him a full-fledged part of the company.

Of course, that doesn’t sit well with Ward- but then again, what does?- who is furious when Danny orders the board to sell a lifesaving medicine at cost. Ward goes to the press to “expose” Danny’s practices, which naturally backfires. Oh, and the reporter name drops “Daredevil’s” Karen Page. Gotta love tie ins.

The real point of the episode was in the final act, when Danny took down about ten triad members in a hallway when they tried to kidnap Joy. The triad backs off when Danny mentions the Hand, proving how big a presence the Hand has in the underworld, but Harold gets his revenge by slaughtering the triad’s leader later that night.

“Eight Diagram Dragon Palm” was still a slower pace than Marvel fans are used to and at episode four, that’s a problem. While it had some good action, it was saved for the end, which really served to set up more story.
