One of the biggest surprises of 2019 was just how damn hilarious HBO’s sketch comedy series A Black lady Sketch Show was. In fact, each of its segments that have been uploaded to HBO’s YouTube channel have amassed over a million views.
After a nearly 2-year hiatus, the Emmy nominated series’ six-episode second season is ready to launch and deliver the laughs, on Friday, April 23 at 11pm. The season will air on HBO and be available to stream on HBO Max.
The narrative sketch comedy series features a core cast of Black women living relatable, hilarious experiences in a magical reality that subverts traditional expectations.
Joining the cast this season of A Black lady Sketch Show are featured players Laci Mosley and Skye Townsend, and returning this season are core cast members Robin Thede, Gabrielle Dennis and Ashley Nicole Black.
The new season will feature several celebrity guest stars, including executive producer Issa Rae (Emmy and Golden Globe nominee for HBO’s “Insecure”), Gabrielle Union, Jesse Williams, Miguel, Skai Jackson, Laz Alonso, Omarion, Kim Wayans, Ayesha Curry, Lance Gross, Wunmi Mosaku and many more.
Season one of A Black Lady Sketch Show received three Primetime Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Variety Sketch Series, Outstanding Directing For A Variety Series and Outstanding Guest Actress In A Comedy Series (Angela Bassett).
Season 2 of A Black Lady Sketch Show premieres Friday, April 23 at 11pm on HBO.
