In Hawkeye‘s second episode, “Hide and Seek,” Clint and Kate come face to face and end up entangled in a murder mystery. Also, LARP. You won’t believe this episode! Here we go!
Tracksuit Mafia | Clint (Jeremy Renner) corners Kate (Hailee Steinfeld) in the alley and they hide out at her apartment, above a pizzeria, and Clint is shocked that a 22-year-old has the Ronin suit. He demands it back, but the gang from the auction, whom Clint dubs the Tracksuit Mafia, arrives and throws Molotov cocktails at them and burns her apartment to a crisp before they escape with the dog. Kate stays at her aunt’s empty apartment while Clint returns to the burnt apartment to find the Ronin suit, but it was stolen by, get this- a larper who posts a video of him wearing the suit on Instagram.
Clint is forced to send his kids home to the farm and then takes Kate to her mom’s security office after getting her phone number, “For emergencies only.” He also mentions that he’s wearing a hearing aid after his many Avengers exploits. As Kate gets a phone call from the cops asking about the fire that burned down her apartment, Clint is forced to partake in a LARP session to earn the Ronin suit back from the guy who took it. He allows him to “kill” him in battle, after which the guy hands over the suit to him.

A Duel | Clint calls Laura (Linda Cardellini) to inform her that he is going to miss his flight home, but she’s okay with him dealing with the Mafia and seems to know about his Ronin exploits. Kate has dinner with her mom (Vera Farmiga) and Jack (Tony Dalton) and challenges Jack to a fencing duel, which he lets her win. Kate tries to convince her mom that Jack is hiding something, but her mom refuses to listen. Jack offers Kate a peace butterscotch, which happens to have Armand’s name on the wrapper, incriminating him in Armand’s murder.
Clint offers himself to the Mafia so they’ll take him to their boss and he is dragged into a van, as Kate tracks his phone and follows him. Clint ends up in a warehouse, where he easily breaks loose of his restraints and tells the men he wants to speak to the boss. They demand to know where Kate Bishop is, but she storms in to rescue him at that moment and both of them end up duct-taped to merry-go-round parts. The men then tell a deaf woman (Alaqua Cox) hiding in a windowless room that they have them both.
