“The Gifted” Episode Review: Do Not Pass Go

“The Gifted” gave us more character drama this week in “eXodus” as Caitlin tries to use her family connections to find Reed, who is forced to make a life-altering decision. Clarice struggles with her powers, until Dreamer forces her hand.

First up, Reed and Turner try to work together to find the Mutant Underground as a tracker-laced Reed tags along with mutants trying to find shelter. Naturally, Reed grows a conscience and bails out of the van as its driving to the base and backs out of Turner’s deal.

Meanwhile, Caitlin, Lauren and Andy visit Caitlin’s brother Danny, who refuses to help them, until mutant haters try to assault them. Marcos and John manage to help them escape, but they find themselves overpowered. Back at the base, Dreamer- who has gotten nothing to do the last two episodes- suddenly uses her powers to convince Clarice that she is in a relationship with John so Clarice can motivate herself to teleport everyone out.

Obviously, John isn’t too happy with this, seeing as Dreamer is, you know, screwing with a woman’s mind. More importantly, this is the first time Dreamer has done ANYTHING for the show and this is a very uncomfortable introduction to her powers and her character. Frankly, I had to look up her name because the show has yet to say it out loud.

“eXposed,” while packed with drama, raised more questions than answers. It felt like complications for complications’ sake and three episodes in, that’s not a good sign.

“The Gifted” airs Mondays on Fox.
