Freeform held its annual Upfront presentation in New York on Thursday, where it announced its summer schedule, pickups for new series and more.
Among the stars in attendance was LOST fan-favorite Elizabeth Mitchell, who is set to headline the cabler’s highly-anticipated new series, Dead of Summer, as Deb, the new owner of Camp Stillwater.
“The tone of the show is summer camp,” Mitchell said on the red carpet.
“[It’s a] summer camp in the 80s and things are seemingly fine and it’s idyllic and it’s a place everybody goes and they kind of find themselves.
“Then it all goes horribly wrong,” she continued, “and it’s kind of delicious!”
Set in the late 1980s, school is out for the summer, and a sun-drenched season of firsts beckons the counselors at Camp Stillwater, a seemingly idyllic Midwestern summer camp, including first loves, first kisses—and first kills. Stillwater’s dark, ancient mythology awakens, and what was supposed to be a summer of fun soon turns into one of unforgettable scares and evil at every turn.
The series also stars Elizabeth Lail (“Once Upon a Time”), Zelda Williams (“Teen Wolf”), Mark Indelicato (“Ugly Betty”), Alberto Frezza (“Charlie’s Angels”), Eli Goree (“The 100”), Ronen Rubinstein (“Orange Is the New Black”), Amber Coney (“Class”) and Paulina Singer (“Gotham”).
Dead of Summer premieres Tuesday, June 28 at 9pm on Freeform.
