“Stitchers” Exclusive: Kyle Harris Talks 3×03 ‘Perfect’: Tension, Intimacy, Love Dolls & More!
We are finally back in the Stitch Lab for Season three of Stitchers and while the second season’s stressful cliffhanger has been resolved, the ramifications are just starting to ramp up. In Tuesday night’s episode, titled “Perfect,” we saw Cameron’s first day as the newly promoted Maggie Jr. and things didn’t go quite as smoothly as he would have hoped.
Cameron’s portrayer Kyle Harris took time out of his busy day to chat with OMFGTV about the episode, his character’s new role, and of course the fan favorite pairing of Cameron and Kirsten.
Cameron and Camille (Allison Scagliotti) have always had a witty banter back and forth and while their connection began at Kirsten (Emma Ishta), they have formed their own friendship in and out of the lab, but that is strained when Cameron receives a promotion Camille had been gunning for herself. “I think Cameron and Camille are both strong willed, stubborn geniuses in the lab, with the two of them always thinking that they’re smarter than the other,” Harris tells us. “The promotion kind of placed Cameron a little bit above Camille in her mind and I don’t think she’s willing to stand for that.”
According to Harris, the tension will likely get worse before it gets better but one thing that won’t change is both of their loyalties to the team as a whole. “Cameron is the captain but also the biggest team player,” hey says, “and he doesn’t want his yips, as we discovered, to get in the way of the bigger picture so he does decide to let Camille kind of take the reins for the stitch because he knows it’s for the betterment of the team.”

Cameron stepping aside to give Camille the reins stands to his determination to put the team and especially Kirsten above himself and he will do everything he can to get himself to a place where he can do that. “We see next week Camille still holding the reins and Cameron has another life or death moment that shakes him up a little bit and puts things into perspective for him,” Harris explains. “Basically, he comes to grips with reality and says, ‘Look, I’ve gotta be in charge of my own emotions and my own well-being and my life before I can put myself in charge of someone else’s i.e. Kirsten while she’s in the stitch.’”
Speaking of Kirsten, the pair learned this week that physical intimacy between them was actually affecting her ability to stitch and if they want a real shot at figuring out what the deal is with her mom, they have to keep that to a minimum. “I think it’s another test of his patience and how far he’ll go to win Kirsten over, essentially again, and he knows that finding her mother, mapping the brain, and evolving the technology has been a priority for both of them. Unfortunately he’s having to sacrifice a lot of self wants for the program and for Kirsten.” But never fear, Harris promises that Cameron, “comes out looking like a gentleman at the end of the day.”
The episode itself was a fun one, with cold shower jokes, singing, and of course, the love dolls. Something you may not know is that the main love doll in question wasn’t a doll at all! “The most interesting thing was that the actual love doll that we used in the episode, that you see on the table, was an actual actress that they did heavy makeup for and then had visual effects over. So that was pretty impressive to see how it turned out in the episode. Turns out the actors are cheaper than the actual love dolls!” It is a testament to both the actress and the visual effects department for how eerily doll-like it turned out on screen.
We got to see Camille and Amanda do a little serenading of each other in episode 3 but unfortunately, while he has a theater background and is all for it, Harris will not be doing any singing of his own, at least this season. “Hopefully if there’s another season we can find a night where Cameron actually gets to use that jukebox in his apartment, that I think is one of the coolest props we have on set. Maybe he throws on some music and tries to charm Kirsten while he’s making dinner for her or something.” When asked what he thought Cameron would serenade her with, Harris said he would do a little Frank Sinatra, “The Way You Look Tonight”.
There is a lot in store for Cameron and the whole Stitchers Team this season and Harris is excited for everyone to see it. Stay tuned to read what he teases for the rest of the season, a fun story from set, and his favorite Stitch of all time.
