Dead of Summer’s Zelda Williams says There’s “Something for Everyone!”

The series premiere of Freeform’s Dead of Summer is just a day away! To help promote the new show, Zelda Williams (Drew Reeves) spoke briefly about the Adam Horowitz-Edward Kitsis-Ian Goldberg creation and why it will cater to everyone.

“For the most part Dead of Summer is an anthology, horror, thriller, suspense show,” she says of the genre-bending series. “Thankfully the [producers and writers] really do wanna scare people, which I love. I’m a huge horror film fan, so that made me very happy.”

“But they still want to develop characters under duress,” she continues. “It’s not about ‘Oh, there’s just scares,’ or ‘Oh, there’s just suspense.’ They do want you to see their lives, otherwise why would you care if they live or die?”

Since Dead of Summer has an ensemble of a variety of different characters, Williams explains that that’s the reason why it will appeal to the masses.

“It’s got something for everyone,” say says. “Even when they don’t, I think people really do like being scared. I love it, but I’m also a weirdo about it. I think people like being scared, I think people like secrets and I think they like not being able to predict a show.”

“It’s a lot of fun!”

Dead of Summer premieres Tuesday, June 28, at 9pm on Freeform.
