After a handful of brief, mysterious promos teasing the series premiere of Freeform’s new series Dead of Summer, the network formerly known as ABC Family has released the anthology’s first official trailer!
“You have no idea what this place is,” says a sinister voice in the minute-long promo. “Rise and Shine. The Water’s Feeling Fine,” may be the slogan for Camp Stillwater, but indeed, as the voice warns, this couldn’t be farther from the truth.
The new trailer now includes actual footage from the series including our ragtag group of campers getting acclimated with the recently reopened camp– and slowly, one by one, they begin to have strange and often times terrifying encounters with what just cannot be explained.
Check out the chilling trailer below, filled with OMFG & WTF moments, including a spine-tingling, blink-or-you’ll-miss-it appearance from Tony Todd’s mysterious character!
The trailer does look pretty crazy, but we don’t think it’s all real. We’re almost positive it includes dream sequences and campfire stories.
We can’t say it enough: The show looks AMAZING and we absolutely can’t wait!
Set in the late 1980s, school is out for the summer, and a sun-drenched season of firsts beckons the counselors at Camp Stillwater, a seemingly idyllic Midwestern summer camp, including first loves, first kisses—and first kills. Stillwater’s dark, ancient mythology awakens, and what was supposed to be a summer of fun soon turns into one of unforgettable scares and evil at every turn.
Dead of Summer premieres Tuesday, June 28, at 9pm on Freeform.
