Exclusive: Dead of Summer’s Mark Indelicato Previews Episode 3 “Mix Tape”
It’s been three weeks now since Freeform’s buzzy, supernatural thriller Dead of Summer made its long-awaited series premiere. From what we’ve gathered from the first two installments, each installment will explore the counselors’ pasts with the use of flashbacks.
In an exclusive interview with OMFGTV, Mark Indelicato (Blair Ramos) talks a little bit more about their history and what viewers can expect from tonight’s all-new episode, “Mix Tape.”
“You get to delve into each character’s backstory and kind of what brought them to the camp,” Indelicato tells us. One of the elements that have us excited about Blair’s backstory is the possibility of who could be playing his mom.
As fans of Mark Indelicato know, this isn’t the first time he’s worked with the Disney/ABC family. Fans were introduced to a young Mark on the hit ABC series Ugly Betty, an adaptation of a popular Colombian telenovela. His mother on the show was portrayed by the absolutely hilarious Ana Ortiz, who can now be seen on the ABC Studios-produced Lifetime series Devious Maids.
Both Indelicato and Ortiz were last reunited at the ATX Television Festival, which hosted an Ugly Betty reunion. We would die if the two teamed up once again for for Blair’s backstory.

“Oh, my gosh,” he says. “I would do anything to have Ana play my mom!” We hope co-creators Edward Kitsis, Adam Horowitz and Ian Goldberg make it happen!
Until we get to see his central episode, viewers will first see Blair’s past in tonight’s episode with Cricket’s (Amber Coney) flashback.
“You get a peek into Blair and Cricket’s life in high school prior to going to camp,” he reveals. “So you get to see where their relationship is, how their relationship operates– which was quite interesting for me especially with this kind of woman and this kind of gay male friendship and relationship that that has fostered.”
Back in present-day 1989, we’ll see more of Blair’s journey and that he has his eye on one of his fellow counselors. “You get to see how that relationship develops and unfolds in a romantic context.”
As for Blair’s relationship with Cricket, Indelicato is thrilled for what’s in store.
“I was quite excited to delve into Cricket and Blair’s relationship, which you get to see a lot of in episodes to come.”
Dead of Summer airs Tuesdays at 9pm on Freeform.
