“The Fosters” Recap: Where They Are Now
Part one of the three part series finale for Freeform’s The Fosters is all about catching up with what everyone has been doing over the last few years. The last we saw of the Adams Foster family was a time-lapse of everyone graduating from high school and a small glimpse at what they might get up to, but ‘Meet the Fosters’ really catches up with all members of the family at a celebration dinner before Brandon and Eliza’s wedding in Turks and Caicos.
The New Adams Foster | Stef (Teri Polo) and Lena (Sherri Saum) can’t have an empty nest, so no surprise that they have a new foster son, Corey (Dallas Young). Corey seems like a bright and funny kid who fits in with the family really well. Lena is now the principal of Anchor Beach and on the school board, and Stef is running a non-profit and shelter for families.

The Hunters | Brandon (David Lambert) is ready to tie the knot to his fiancé Eliza (Abigail F. Cowen), so the family is having a huge celebration in the Adams Foster backyard before the wedding so both families can get to know each other better. Eliza’s parents, Jim (Robert Gant) and Diane (Susan Walters), seem to be very traditional compared to the Adams Foster clan, but their two sons Jamie (Beau Mirchoff) and Carter (Spencer List) seem to fit in a little better. The Hunters, especially Jim and Diane, are very unaware how uneducated and homophobic some of their comments come across as being, making for high tensions between the families. Jim and Diane have a family tradition at weddings where members of the opposite sex from each family pair off for a dance, and suggests Jim just alternate between Stef and Lena so they don’t feel awkward, not realizing that that’s waaaaay more awkward than her dancing with one of the ladies herself. The worst part about the Hunters, in my opinion, is how they treat B and make him and Eliza cater the wedding around their needs/feelings. Stef and Lena were supposed to officiate the wedding, they had been preparing for weeks, but Jim and Diane decided their kids need to be married by a minister instead.
Callie | It’s no surprise that Callie (Maia Mitchell) has finished law school and is looking for a clerkship with a judge. What also is not surprising is that there still seems to be some sort of spark between her and Brandon, even though he’s engaged to Eliza. Speaking or Eliza, she didn’t even know B and Callie used to be a thing until she overhears it! Now Jim wants Brandon to sign a prenup before the wedding, which he asks Callie to look over. This can’t play out well for the couple that’s about to get married. Callie is still friends with Aaron (Elliot Fletcher), which is quite a relief because he’s a great character and had a tremendous influence on her the last season. She also seems to enjoy a bit of hate-flirting with Jamie, who’s a corporate lawyer. aka her enemy.
Family Updates:
- Jude (Hayden Byerly) has finished his first year at UCLA, seems to have an alcohol problem, and possibly a sex problem.
- Jesus (Noah Centineo) and Wyatt (Alex Saxon) have started a treehouse building company.
- Mariana (Cierra Ramirez) graduated from MIT, broke up with Mat (Jordan Ramires) after he gave her crabs, and is still arguing with her brother like siblings do.
