Freeform’s The Fosters tackled another hot topic in this weeks new episode by addressing the debate over public vs private education. This issue has been an ongoing problem all season, but it finally comes to a head when the students get a chance to vote on whether they want to stay a public school or go private. On top of that, Jesus (Noah Centieno) goes back to school and has to experience high school with an in-class aide. ‘Invisible’ was written by Kimberly Ndombe and directed by Laura Nisbet.
Art School or Bust | Callie’s (Maia Mitchell) big struggle this week is deciding whether she wants to apply to UCSD’s art program or not. She doesn’t feel very confident in herself, but after stopping by to see Ximena (Lisseth Chavez), Callie is reminded of her courage and decides to apply. We also see Aaron (Elliot Fletcher) try to blur the friendship lines between him and Callie, but she is fast to point out what friends should and should not do.
Good Friend | Jude (Hayden Byerly) finally realizes the mistake he’s made in lying to Taylor (Izabela Vidovic) and comes clean about the video game contract. She’s definitely not happy with him. Luckily for Jude, the gamer his company wants him to work with is cool with Taylor joining and says the company won’t say no to him. Plus, the gamer seems to think Jude is cute.

Too Fragile? | Grace (Meg DeLacy) is staying in town to try to cancer treatment her doctor presented as an option, but this means her mom is moving in for a while, leaving Grace and Brandon (David Lambert) almost zero alone time. Grace is upset by this because she really wants to go back to her normal life, which includes sex with Brandon. Her mom seems to have other ideas about that, and so does Brandon. He’s afraid he’s going to hurt her, but after reassuring him that she would let him know if she was hurting, they get down to business.
Public or Private | Mariana (Cierra Ramirez) has been working tirelessly in order to save Anchor Beach from turning into a public school, and now it’s time to see if that hard work has paid off. When the students voice their opinions, they vote no on turning the school private. Now all that needs to happen is for the board to vote, but Monte (Annika Marks) has her position at her new school threatened if she doesn’t resign soon, so the school could still become private. Mariana knows she needs to take action, and Nick (Louis Hunter) may be her only hope. But instead of going to meet him alone she tells Lena (Sherri Saum), who goes and confronts him for answers on how to save the school.
Not So Easy | Jesus makes his debut back at school, but it’s not as easy as he had hoped. He’s got an in-class aide who patronizes instead of helps him and he has difficulty focusing and remembering things. Stef (Teri Polo) and Lena decide they should try taking him to a TBI support group, but they’re the ones who seemed to learn something from that. They learned that Jesus feels invisible and isolated because they’re trying to get him back to how he was instead of adapting to how he is now. This is a huge breakthrough in helping Jesus move forward and adapt to his disability.
