“The Fosters” Recap: The Truth Comes Out
As we are nearing the end of the fourth season, The Fosters is bringing the main focus back to secret keeping and how harmful it can be. In last nights new episode several secrets are reveled and consequences are dire. “Who Knows” was written and directed by Joanna Johnson.
The Killer Revealed | At her strategy meeting just day before her trial, Callie (Maia Mitchell) is made to dress in a modest skirt and blouse. Her defense wants her to look young and innocent so she can spin the tale that she was manipulated by Kyle Snow(Adam Irigoyen) into thinking he was innocent, but that she now knows he’s guilty. Callie won’t lie, so she tells the truth about why she believes Troy is the killer, his DNA was on the murder weapon. She tells her moms about Doug Harvey’s (Hugh Scott) toothbrush–but says she got it from his trash outside the house–and that it proves Troy is guilty.

Her moms later tell her the truth about Kyle’s case, he really was at Martha’s the morning of her murder and he took $200 from her. This places him at the scene of the crime the day it was committed, he lied to Callie. She goes to prison to confront him and isn’t prepared for what happens. Kyle is covered in gang tattoos, including a tear drop under his eye. He admits to using her, he’s guilty of killing Martha. Now Callie could go to jail for trying to help her “friend.” And to make matters even worse, Doug Harvey is now coming forward with video evidence that Callie broke into his house.
Jesus Finds Out | Jesus (NoahCentineo) helps Gabe (Brandon Quinn) move into the garage and reveals he’s stopped taking his meds because they interfere with his sex life. Gabe does the responsible thing and tells Lena (Sherri Saum), who is understandably pissed. Jesus goes off on Gabe for betraying his trust, and Brandon (David Lambert) is there to comfort his brother.
Later, Emma (Amanda Leighton) shows Jesus a screenshot from an anonymous twitter that posts secrets. The most recent one is about Anchor Beach becoming a private school–Jesus knows Mariana (Cierra Ramirez) must have posted it–but the one below it is the one that catches his attention. It’s the tweet about her BFF being pregnant and not telling her. Jesus knows.
Other News:
- Mariana has a very emotional episode, between her fight with Emma and what happens in therapy with her birth mom, no wonder she has a secret twitter where she can let her thoughts out.
- Lena and Monte (Annika Marks) discover Nick Stratos’ father is the one funding the project to privatize Anchor Beach.
- Diamond (Hope Olaide Wilson) is still in contact with her pimp, but thanks to Callie, Stef (Teri Polo) is able to track the texts being exchanged between them.
With the season finale right around the corner, what do you think could happen? Will Callie get out of going to jail now that she knows the truth? And how will Jesus deal with the weight of knowing he was almost a father?
