“The Fosters” Recap: Is He Ready To Be A Father?

In last night’s all new episode of The Fosters we saw that the kids still don’t have doors and Jesus, though improving, is still struggling. The episode was noticeably Jude-less, but spent a lot of focus on all the other Adams-Foster children. “Doors and Windows” was written by Constance M. Burge and Kris Q. Rehl.

How Do You Plea | Callie (Maia Mitchell) gets offered a plea deal, but she doesn’t want to take it. She wasn’t the cause of the accident so why should she take the blame? Her attorney hands her her very thick file, which inspires Callie’s (hopefully) final idea for her senior project. She decides to build a cell–like solitary confinement– and papers the inside with her file. Stef (Teri Polo) did some digging, and it turns out Troy has an alibi, so it looks like she has to take the deal.

Jealousy Is Not A Good Color | Jesus (Noah Centineo) is still struggling with his temper, and begins to think that Brandon (David Lambert) is hooking up with his girlfriend Emma (Amanda Leighton). You can see the jealousy all over his face when he looks at Brandon. But the reality of the situation is that Emma is pregnant and was turning to Brandon for advice. She’s struggling with whether she should tell Jesus or not. To make things even harder for Jesus, he still hasn’t re-learned how to read.

Music Therapy | Brandon decides to take Jesus to therapy, where he meets a cute music therapist. She explains to him how music can help re-wire the brain in people with TBIs. Brandon is very interested in learning how music can be used in a therapeutic way, and begins teaching Jesus piano. Could this be a possible new career path for Brandon?

Sense of Powerlessness | Mariana (Cierra Ramirez) has been struggling for a long time, so her therapist tries a new exercise to get her to open up. It is revealed that her issues go back farther than Mat and Nick, they go all the way back to her childhood. Her mother abandoned her and Jesus, and she’s felt powerless ever since. Stef and Lena (Sherri Saum) come to a session with Mariana and realize they all need to communicate better and show their kids equal amounts of respect.

Detective | Lena is clearly exhausted from taking care of Jesus and stressing about money since she’s taken a leave of absence. Stef gets offered the position as detective, and after some consideration she takes the job. She knows this promotion will greatly improve their financial situation.

Other Thoughts:
• AJ (Tom Williamson) is still jealous of Aaron (Elliot Fletcher), but maybe with good reason? It looked like Callie and Aaron almost had a moment in Callie’s cell.
• Is Brandon going to fall for the music therapy girl? She says she has a boyfriend, but Brandon seems interested. Does the boy even know how to be single?
