5 Delayed Films That We’re Still Waiting to See in 2021

2020’s global pandemic ruined tons of plans, events and all around fun. Among those feeling the heat from COVID-19 is the film industry, with almost every major film slated for 2020 either delayed or sent to a streaming service. Some films have been worth the wait (“Soul”), others, not so much (“The New Mutants”).

But not every film was fortunate enough to get a release. As of this writing, here are five films from 2020 that are still waiting to play for salivating audiences.

“Black Widow” | Ever since her debut in “Iron Man 2” back in 2010 (!), Marvel fans have been clamoring for Scarlett Johansson’s Natasha Romanoff to get a solo outing on the big screen. It only took ten years, but “Black Widow” was ready to go- until you-know-what hit. The long awaited kick off for Marvel’s Phase 4 is currently scheduled for a simultaneous theatrical release and a Disney+ debut for a $29.99 fee. Hopefully, Nat’s swan song from the MCU will justify the anguish from fans.

“No Time to Die” | Speaking of long delayed farewells to beloved action stars, in comes Daniel Craig’s final outing as James Bond in the finale to the reboot that began with “Casino Royale” in 2006. Now, Bond must face off against “Bohemian Rhapsody’s” Rami Malek and the sketchy past of his girlfriend, Madeleine (Lea Seydoux). Everybody’s got a secret…

“A Quiet Place: Part 2” | John Krasinski’s surprise silent horror film, “A Quiet Place” was a huge hit in 2018- provided your theater was super quiet. Now, he’s back behind the camera directing real life wife Emily Blunt, plus new additions of “Batman Begins” baddie Cillian Murphy and Oscar nominee Djimon Hounsou, for a more intense sequel featuring flashbacks to the alien invasion. Just remember to be quiet!

“Dune” | Frank Herbert’s bestselling “Dune” novels are considered to be among the most influential and breathtaking science fiction stories ever told. Now, fresh off the success of “Blade Runner 2049,” director Denis Villeneuve is planning an ambitious adaptation with an all star cast, including Timothee Chalamet, Zendaya, Dave Bautista, Josh Brolin, Oscar Isaac and Javier Bardem- just to name a few! Based on the pedigree alone, this will be one to talk about.

“Free Guy” | You know a movie is good when star Ryan Reynolds declares it his favorite film of his own. Starring Reynolds as a hapless bank teller who discovers that he’s actually a character in a video game, this hyper creative sci-fi comedy also stars “Killing Eve’s” Jodie Comer and “Jojo Rabbit” director Taika Waititi and hails from “Real Steel” director Shawn Levy. We can’t wait to see if it lives up to the hype.
