We are a little over a month away from Lifetime’s second cycle of dirty laundry with its hit comedy, Devious Maids. The cabler, which will premiere its sophomore season of the sudser on Sunday, April 20, has started its promotion first by enlisting the help of R&B superstar Jason Derulo.
The promo absolutely delivers and just feeds into our obsession of the show. The last bit at the end where all five leads stroll out in slow motion, that moment is so BOSS!
To the normal viewer, the season two trailer may just look like a random collection of scenes that don’t mean anything. However, if you pay attention, you will find what may just be storylines for the upcoming season. We break it down for you below.
Devious Maids Season Two Trailer Takeaways
• Looks like it doesn’t take long for Rosie (Dania Ramirez) to reunite with her employer/lover Spence Westmore (Grant Show) or as we like to call him, Meester Spence. Rosie is seen popping a bottle of champagne with Mr. Westmore who are both all smiles. Looks like Peri Westmore (Mariana Klaveno) is out of the picture. Woohoo!
• Is Valentina (Edy Ganem) over Remi Delatour (Drew Van Acker)? From the looks of the promo, it sure does look like it. She is seen crawling to another man, but Remi is right behind them with an upset look on his face. Maybe he’s not ready to part with Valentina. Who else is going to make him french toast in a skin-tight uniform?
• There’s a quick shot of Zoila (Judy Reyes) and Tony (newcomer Dominic Adams). Tony is a bodyguard/chauffeur so we’re assuming this character will have ties to either Carmen (Roselyn Sanchez) or Alejandro (Cedeño). So we’re not sure of the connection between he and Zoila unless he’s working for her employer, Genevieve Delatour (Susan Lucci), which then poses the question: Why does Genevieve need a bodyguard? Is someone after her?
• Now that the big mystery of season one has been solved and her son is out of jail, Marisol (Ana Ortiz) can be open about her real profession and move on with her life, which from the trailer above looks like it may include a love interest in the form of new addition Mark Deklin who plays Nicholas, a handsome and wealthy Beverly Hills businessman/philanthropist. The mysterious death of his wife looks to be the central storyline for the sophomore season and with Marisol by his side, looks like she will be doing more detective work. In the trailer, we see a woman who is watching both Marisol and Nicholas like a creeper. Her name is Opal (Joanna Adler) who plays a new maid on the show — his maid to be exact. To say that Opal is involved with his wife’s death is just too easy, so hopefully at season’s end we won’t find that she was the one responsible. Marisol posing as a maid to help solve Flora’s (Paula Garcés) murder definitely made headlines in their local news, so we’re hoping Nicholas didn’t seek Marisol out just to help him solve the mystery behind his wife’s death.
• In the trailer, Genevieve has a glass of champagne in one hand and a boy toy on the other. Could he be the new just-turned-18 pool boy who happens to be Opal’s son? This will make it awkward especially since he’s younger than Remi.
• Adrian Powell (Tom Irwin) loads a gun in the trailer, and frankly we don’t have a clue as to what this could mean except that he looks determined to get some kind of revenge. Didn’t he already achieve that when he killed Flora’s murderer? We wonder who he’s after now.
Of course, these are all just theories we’ve come up with from viewing the trailer. We can’t wait to see what OMFG moments the season delivers when it premieres next month.
Season Two of Devious Maids premieres Sunday, April 20, at 10|9c on Lifetime.
