Debris pulls out its first official cliffhanger ending at a hell of a time in “Do You Know Icarus?” Bryan and Finola are called to investigate a fracture in reality that could do catastrophic damage to the world, while Maddox faces a personal crisis.
The Jump | We begin with a guy named Shelby diving into a lake where a large piece of Debris is sitting at the bottom. He swims inside it and then flashes to his house by the lake, looking for his sister Kathleen, but finds a younger brother instead. In Oregon, Bryan (Jonathan Tucker) and Finola (Riann Steele) drive George (Tyrone Benskin) to a cabin where a guy named Garcia (Zak Santiago), who has white eyes after a Debris related accident, will help George build his device, while Bryan and Finola drive to Washington to investigate a Debris event.
Once they arrive, they find Shelby’s house and talk to him, when he confesses to knowing about the Debris in the lake and outright reveals his plan: He and Kathleen were using the Debris to jump back in time two days until one day, she didn’t come back and Shelby’s been jumping and trying to get her back ever since.
Irreversible | Finola calls George to talk to Shelby, who claims that if he can’t get Kathleen back, it could do catastrophic damage to reality, but George tells Finola that the opposite is true. By the time they realize this, Shelby has already jumped and reset the timeline. He does this enough times that every time he resets, Bryan has a different partner other than Finola. Eventually, one reset gets Finola back and when she and Bryan enter Shelby’s house she sees a reflection of Kathleen in a mirror.
In Langley, Maddox (Norbert Leo Butz) gets a call for a restaurant reservation for Julia (Jennifer Copping) that he has no knowledge of, so he does what any good husband would do: He spies on her from across the restaurant and sees her with another man. To make matters worse, he storms into the place to find out that the guy is a divorce lawyer. He and Julia have a tearful argument about how Julia was driving the car during the accident and that she can’t accept his forgiveness for that and she walks away.
Once More With Feeling | George once again calls Shelby and tells him that the fact that Kathleen was seemingly erased from existence is a refection of his desire that she was never born. Unable to accept that, Shelby makes a run for yet another jump, but this time, Bryan leaps in after him and ends up driving up to the lake with another partner named Grace, only he actually remembers what’s going on.
Bryan immediately knocks out Shelby and call Finola, who’s working a desk at MI6, and informs her of what’s going on and that he needs to get back to his reality, but Grace calls Maddox and he tells her that Bryan can’t jump no matter what. And just like that, the episode ends! Can’t wait till next week!
